Oh Meg darlin’ - NO - must have a decent pud, rhubarb or apple crumble & custard or something.
Today we had Chicken breasts and all the trimmings.
Stir fry over rice noodles, followed by fresh strawberries.
Today we had two different dinners, I cooked my Husband Liver, Mash, Peas and fried onions in gravy. I had a chicken salad.
Courtesy of a friend, celebrating her 50th birthday (she paid for lunch for about 17 of us in total!), today I had:
Bread roll and bread sticks
Simply gorgeous spare ribs (3)
Breaded pork with spaghetti (odd combo, but pork was nice)
Chocolate fudge cake with ice cream
Latte in a tall glass
An after eight mint
Orange & cranberry juice
And a piece of chocolate birthday cake, made by her mum
A lovely meal, with very good company. (I sat next to ‘mum’ and an ex colleague. In the restaurant for 3 1/2 hours! I advised her to start saving up for her 60th…
Warmed up some leftovers tonight as the able-bodied folk were out shovelling a load of topsoil across the yard and scattering grass seed.
Jazzi… sounds like a wonderful meal!
Yes Sue darlin’ - so did I - the left-overs of the Kangaroo casserole.
Oh it was! Had slight trepidation of joining a party of all those strangers but my friend had kindly put me next to her mum and our ex colleague and yes, I did talk to some of the other ladies! Dread to think what her bill was!
Ham salad with a baked potato for meat eater and cottage cheese with salad and a small baked potato for me.
Tonight we had Chicken Kiev, potatoes & vegs. I might decide to have a couple of choc ices later.
Chicken thigh with salad for meat eater and hard boiled egg with salad for me.
May do a little mashed potato with it yet to decide.
I’m doing a chicken korma for lunch served with basmati rice, and stewed fruit for pud…
Gotta go out to my bank this morning so have to pass the pie shop on the way. I discovered last weekend that they make fabulous pork pie/pasties with herbs and apple too. Since its impossible to walk by this shop without stopping (the smell that emanates from there every day is gorgeous!!!) I shall have one of these pasties for my lunch with some veg and gravy too.
we had pork loin chop with potato/pumpkin bake and steamed sprouts for tea tonight, fruit/ icecream shortly, lots of calories but who cares eh?
It’s going to be a make do dinner tonight of Tin Stewing Steak, Potatoes, Marrow and Mushrooms.
Very true as long as you are not an obese 50 who has been diagnosed with diabeties, concentrates the mind slightly and while I would never try to tell anyone how to eat it does worry me when I see some of the meals people eat (not just here but other forums with dinner threads too). If people are slim and healthy then fine but obese and unhealthy just like me really we need to manage the calories or they will manage us off the planet rather too quickly for my liking.
Julie, I think we all feel that way. I must admit sometime my meals are not that healthy likes tonights, but most of the time it is, I am lucky i’m not obese at 9st 9lbs, but i’m a very bad Diabetic and should control myself more, but I think a bit of what you fancy now and again is ok. SusieJ xx
Yes Susie darlin’ - but in my case its not “Now and again”, I LOVE my food!!!
You can love food without over eating I am finding, one bite of many foods is enough to stop a craving.
