That sounds nice !
I must admit Cate, our Indian Restaurant the food is always nice, and all the Waiters and the Manager know me of by heart, and they would cook me whatever I wanted. We go to the King Balti.
My daughter tried Jamie Oliver’s recipe for Swedish meatballs tonight, over rice cooked with white turnip (we don’t have celeriac) and spinach. It was delicious! (Never again the plain beef meatballs in a crock pot with BBQ sauce.)
We are having Bangers & Mash with onion gravy today.
I’ve got a big fat turkey in the oven for later .
Treating some-one very special today - going to a local restaurant for a FIVE COURSE lunch!!!
Chicken thigh with roast vegetables for meat eater and roast vegetables with vegetarian sausages for me.
Today’s supper will be sage and onion flavoured turkey slices, some ham, sausagemeat, stuffing (and some mixed), roast potatoes, sweet potatoes and parsnips, carrot, broc, and yorkie puds. Apple crumble and cream. Low alcohol rosata Lambrusco.
Yum! Shall start cooking very soon (mostly prepared earlier). Cheating with potatoes and turkey due to left arm restrictions!
We’ll be having a family dinner later today. Spiral-sliced ham with brown sugar glaze, redskin potato salad, garden salad, hard-boiled eggs, carrot-raisin salad and 5 dozen mini-cupcakes of various flavours and fillings and toppings including fresh strawberries.
Sarah did all the baking and I’ve been washing up and keeping 2 year old George out of the icing and strawberries as she goes - teamwork!
Slow roast pork which has been cooking for hours, roast pots, carrots cauliflower and broccoli, stuffing and gravy, followed by raspberry cheese cake. btw cannot take to these modern ‘cup cakes’ which are basically ordinary (but way too little cake) fairy cakes but with way way way too much sweet creamy ‘ghak’ on top. Mind you I used to like those Lyons ones with a thin layer of icing on top, especially the orange/lemon variety.
Back at last , nice to go away good to be back home alone just me to cater for. Had egg, bacon, mushrooms, beans and toms for brekker and am having nice hot chicken curry (it’s not any particular kind of curry I put everything in that’s to hand) with rice (though could be chips) for tea. Have eaten what everyone else likes for 2 weeks, now begger them all I’m having what I want.
Vegetarian burgers here today on home made buns with salad.
Still morning here. Just sitting up in bed with the laptop and will wander down to the kitchen in a bit. Going to mix up half an avocado with almond milk, honey and chopped almonds for breakfast then walk to the coffee shop with a book.
Do you make your own burgers Julie? Are they soy-based or other?
No I do make burgers using beef mince for my meat eater but I quite like Linda Macartneys range her burgers and sausages are really nice.
Julie - agree with you - LM burgers are loverly…
Anyone any ideas what can do with half a joint of lovely roast pork? apart from sarnies and salad?
My sister does this recipe her family love it
3 tbs peanut oil
1 tsp minced garlic
1 tsp peeled and minced fresh ginger
2 tbs chopped onion
3 to 4 cups cooked rice
2 eggs, lightly beaten
2 tbs soy sauce
frozen peas
Place the oil in a wok and turn heat to high. A minute later, add the garlic, ginger and onion and cook, stirring constantly, for 1 minute.
Turn the heat down a little bit and add the rice, crumbling to eliminate clumps. Then stir in the pork and peas. Stir frequently for about 3 minutes.
Make a little hole in the center of the rice and pour in the eggs. Scramble, incorporating bits of rice as you bring it back to the center.
Add soy sauce and stir. Serve.
I didn’t know about the Linda McCartney foods - thanks. Not available here yet, but I’m checking the website anyway.
I had half a lovely roast pork joint myself after cooking in a slow cooker the meat was just a little dry so I added a jar of korma curry sauce , some red peppers, onions and mushrooms and made a really delish curry.
