I did read it - well done! Yes, you deserve a treat and obviously you are sensible about that too. ![]()
Full fry-up breakfast tomorrow morning: - eggs, bacon, sausages, black pudding, baked beans, mushrooms, hash browns, and fried slice all washed down with a large mug of black coffee and a Brandy top on it!!!
Sounds wonderful! I’d be doing my usual banana and 2 mugs of black coffee. ![]()
Oh - what is “fried slice”? Ham?
Sue darlin’ ‘fried slice’ is a slice of bread fried golden brown in the frying pan - can be cooked alongside the sausages, eggs, bacon, black pudding and hash browns (if the pan is big enough)
Tonight we had, Breaded Chicken, Chip & Mushrooms.
On my own tonight so lazy me had a tin of Tomato Soup, with a couple of slices of crusty bread…
Whooppee!!! - It’s Sunday - that means Sunday Roast with all the trimmings. Fabulous!!!
I have slowly cooked a piece of pork in the slow cooker for 18 hours. I want to try some pulled pork rolls.
Can anyone suggest a nice way of thickening and making the gravy more flavoursome. I cooked the pork on a bed of onions, carrots and garlic. With a little Jamaican Jerk seasoning. It says in most recipes to make a bbq sauce but they are all full of sugar and other dodgy stuff.
Cate darlin’ - pour some of the meat juices out of the slow cooker into a saucepan. Add a stock cube and a little corn flour, stir vigorously to dissolve the cube and the corn flour and heat gently.
Turkey and mediterranean roast veg today.
Will add sweet potatoes to the roast potatoes, yumm. I love frozen peas, so a big dish of those on the table too.
I’m off to hunt round the cupboards for an idea for dessert
Eating lunch as I type ~ tinned tuna, mayo and web’s lettuce sarnie
Just had roast chicken, roast spuds, carrots, parsnips and greens with sage and onion stuffing and Yorkshire puds.
OOooh sounds lovely. We have our meal at teatime. Hubby on nights tonight so won’t want much to eat but I’ve got some pork shoulder steaks to cook with a few veg.
Ooh pork is my favourite Joy!
Lunchtime we had Chicken Kiew & vegs.
Tonight we have vegetarian pizza.
Chicken, potato salad, an orange. On my second mug of peppermint tea.
Defrosted a chicken breast last evening. Today I will chop it into bite-sized chunks, fry it in the pan with an onion, garlic and mushrooms, add some stir-fry oriental veg, add some sweet & sour sauce and simmer for a while. In the meantime will cook some rice.
We had lunch out. So it will be a roast pork sandwich later.
Always love reading your dinner plans… where did you learn to cook? ![]()
Sue darlin’ - I learned to cook watching and/or helping Dragon when she was cooking. I was around 14 - 15 years old at the time. The reason I learned was that George & Dragon were due to go away on holiday (very uncool for a teenage boy to be on holiday with his parents) so I house-sat while they were away, but I swore then that no way would I survive on just tins or packets of food (I have always liked my food) and so Dragon taught me to cook. If Dragon were still alive (she died two years ago) she would admit, I’m a more adventurous cook than she was.
