This is something I will definitely try if I can adapt it to being gluten-free and egg-free. I can likely do crushed gluten-free cereal instead of bread crumbs and maybe xanthan gum to replace the eggs, and dust with rice flour. Thanks for the recipe!![]()
When I need gluten free bread crumbs I make a flat bread with gluten free flour and crumb that. Works really well I find.
Today stir fry and lamb for meat eater just the stir fry for me then I have enough calories left for boiled egg with toast for supper
Its bitterly cold here - still -2 o C so need something warming and stodgy - have steak & Kidney Pudding in my freezer so will have that with a pile of fresh veg - Parsnips, carrots, & sweet potato with a little gravy.
Cod fishfingers, Cheese & Onion Potao Bake & Peas.
Home made meat loaf, with roasties (potato, parsnip, sweet potato and kholrabi), carrot and leek. And a ready made yorkie pud.
Thanks Julie - do you have a flat bread recipe that is also eggless? Would love to try one. ![]()
My grandson and daughter and I are under the weather so we’re nibbling fruit and sipping peppermint tea instead of a proper meal tonight.
No Susie darlin’ - you need ‘proper’ food as fuel to help the body fight off whatever infection ails you all.
This is pretty close to mine, I don’t use the honey though and use my bread machine for the kneading and proving.

Hope you feel better today, I always think a body knows what it needs when unwell so listening to it and eating what you fancy is best.
Geoff, when I’m tired or my appetite is off I stick to tea, rice crackers, soups, or fruit. I’m not ‘ill’ - I suppose I should blame MS for my fatigue. The others have a bad cough and achy joints but I’ve not caught it.
Thanks for the link Julie. There are a few yeast-free, egg-free and gluten-free ‘skillet bread’ recipes out there that I may try. As for gf flour, I came across this recipe - have you used teff flour at all? Store-bought gf flour is a ridiculous price. I tend to mix oat flour, rice flour and potato starch to use in place of wheat flour. Makes nice fluffy pancakes (also use egg replacer/xantham gum.)
We can’t seem to get xantham gum any more round here, not sure why as it was always quite quick off the shelves.
I use gluten free flour for the small amount I use it’s not too expensive. I use potato/rice flour and have a recipe using semolina for biscuits.

That’s an idea
Making beef stew for meat eater today, I am having quorn burgers with mixed veg
Julie darlin’ - with suet dumplings??? - - I’ll be on the next train heading in your direction.
Vegetarian suet yes, makes them lighter and less fat. Low fat stew BTW. So with cabbage it’s all only going to be 361 calories, which ain’t bad for stew !

Julie darlin’ - n ot allowed any of the brassicas, it interferes with my Warfarin, but can eat carrots, parsnips, celeriac, swede, onions, garlic and Leeks.
I won’t list what I am not allowed but cabbage I can have as long as it is cooked. I can’t eat basically anything raw or I go into anaphalatic shock, heart stops, breathing stops and hospital beckons. Epipen always handy so we can start my heart again.
Great fun when I am assured things are safe and they turn out not to be !
We have just had Lamb Shanks, Roast Pots. & Vegs.
Meat eater had left over stew from yesterday and says it was even better today !
I had linda macartney rosemary sausages with cabbage and carrots - very tasty.
Last night my daughter made steak, salad and roast veggies. Then as it was “pi” day (3.14 - March 14) we had pecan pie which includes a lot of ingredients I’m not supposed to eat.
Does that meet with your approval Geoff?
Absolutely Sue darlin!!! - go read the post in 'Health I’ve just put up entitled “happy as pig in…”. This means I can resume (some) of my ‘naughties’. Am well pleased!!!
