What are you having for lunch/dinner? (Part 1)

Sorry Susie - should have asked - what make are they…?

Cate darlin’ - you can actually do both. Cook Pork joint in slow cooker, when cooked through take out, slice the skin off and place in roasting tin with potatoes, parsnips, carrots and onion. Pork cooked in the slow cooker in cider is fabulous!!!

Hi Pats,

Don’t know what make they are, but Sainsbury’s and Tesco’s does them in their vegetarian section, they also sell Mushroom Burgers, but they are pricey. £2.20 for just two burgers. Or better still, make your own. Susie xx

Thanks for that gal - will have a look tomorrow…
Make me own :!::!: Couldn’t possibly do that :!::-p

I bet if you got a small tin of beans and mixed them with a sachet of paxo stuffing you would end up with a decent bean burger. Anything is possible Pats.

Got a pork casserole on, slow cook is the name of the game.

Cate darlin’ adding an egg to the mix to bind it altogether might help.

Thought the bean juice might be the glue that bound it together, but you could be right an egg, then Pats lets see you do it.

Ugh :!::shock: Paxo stuffing :!::!: YUK :!: Blah :!::-p

Ok Pat, settle down now, take your beans and mix them with breadcrumbs, and some seasonings that you do like even add a beaten egg. We shall make a cook of you yet.:019::019::019::019::019:and don’t do this behind my back.:-p:-p:-p

http://www.slimrice.co.uk/index.html in the end we didn’t have it the veggies were enough so I have enough calories left for an options hot chocolate later.

Now now ladies, don’t go putting your tongues out at each other now, just get cooking.

Thanks for that Julie, i’ve never seen them before.

No worries… I’m rather slight and don’t need much. Roasted veggies are wonderful - I could make a dinner of the parsnips, potatoes and carrots. Tonight my daughter has made leek and potato soup from scratch and I think she’s doing sausages and a side dish of some sort.

Slight? what a cruel word to us who are a “DANGER TO SHIPPING” and can only dream of being only LARGE.

I was 10 stone when I was first married & at our 40th anniversary bash I tipped the scales at nearly 18 stone.
I am down to 16 stone & hope to lose 2 more before I am 65 in August…

Any lower than that & folks will think I’'m ill. That sounds familiar…(see What ails thee jock)

Since its cold and snowing outside, decided to keep warm internally. Made Porridge (Roxy please note - the traditional highland way with water and seasoned with salt not sugar) it was very nice.

:-p Phew - I’m over that thought now -… just.
Now gal, I’m not great at diversity where cookings concerned, we like our roasts and casserole and I manage decent pies… not bad huh…? Theres you thinking Pats was totally useless - but I’m not making me burgers, bought 2 packs of Lindas today :!: Loverly…
Thanks Susie…

Cauliflower cheese today got a lovely cauli for just 50p, made my low fat way and I can have a generous portion.

Several years ago the husband of a friend of mine decided to try being vegan, and she devised these delish nut burger thingies. Now concentrate. She would chop up a selection of various nuts (peanuts, hazel, cashews brazils etc) then she would dice up some onion, sweat until soft, and then in a bowl mix the onions, some day old bread crumbs, the nuts, and some chopped herbs (or cheat and add some stuffing mix), bind with beaten egg, then form into patties, dust with flour and shallow fry. She actually cooked a roast chicken for her everyone else and these cutlets for hubby, along with assorted veg and a gravy. But we all tried them and liked them so much we ate them instead of the chicken. (served cold the next day with salad lol) The beauty is this can be adjusted to suit your own taste.

Roast dinner with Piri Piri Chicken.

Tonight homemade Butternut Squash soup, which I made this morning.
