Have taken some lamb chops out of the freezer to defrost for tonights dinner. I shall fry them off then put them into the crock pot to simmer so that they are nice and soft to eat for my poor lad who finds it difficult to eat with his bridge.
We are having leftover Chicken with vegs. all boring stuff.
Had Veg. Soup and french stick for lunch.
Moyra darlin’ - might I suggest that when you place the chops in the crock pot, add some dried saltanas to the pot. Also put some cinnamon, allspice and mixed spice in the pot too.
ah Joe, were it just for me I would but himself wouldn’t eat it with the sultanas in. However, I shall be putting bouquet garnee of herbs in and some mixed dice veg which contain peppers, mushrooms etc. So it will be flavoured. He will probably have a moan about the veg but he will eat it!
Thanks for the tip though. I love sultanas.

Moyra darlin’ - apricots go very well with Lamb - next time try adding a few dried apricots to the pot - they’re sweet and bring out the full flavour of the lamb magnificently.
Oh yes, I know Joe, I love lamb with dried apricots, beautiful. Unfortunately I haven’t got any in my store cupboard, dried fruit yes but not apricots. Never mind another time. Again not sure he would eat them but hard luck its time he tried different dishes. Have only just got him eating my stir fried chicken with added veg and bean shoots etc…he really enjoys it now but didn’t at first.
Well the half a bottle of Whiskey has spurred me on to cook (god help my wife) and so far I’ve put some tatties in a pot, got mince cooking away in another pot with some beef fat, carrots in a pot and an Aunt Bessies cherry pie ready to go on.
so long as the kitchen doesn’t catch fire we should eat well tonight.
OB I think the whiskeys gone to your head, you’re making mince, tatties, carrots and then putting Aunt Bessie’s Cherry Pie on it.![]()
I don’t think it sounds very nice I have to say Ugh!!!:-(![]()
good point hazel, i’ll get the apple pie instead.
Have tin of corned beef (Jean swears this is horse-meat) plus tins of canellini and red kidney beans. Will make a spicy corned beef hash with it for lunch later this morning.
Oh my I can’t remember the last time I had corned beef hash!
I think I’ll give the take away curry a miss tonight and make that instead.
Last night it was a store cupboard meal, Adam finished off some Asda chinese/spicy wings with oven chips and I had a baked spud, beans and some left over corned beef. Today will be fish and chips methinks.
