What are you having for lunch/dinner? (Part 1)

I gave lunch a miss today, I was presented with a huge Christmas dinner yesterday that should fill me for a couple of days!!!

Had left over Turkey made a Turkey Curry with it. Getting fed up with it now.

Maybe it’s just me, but folk seem to have an awful lot of food to eat in a day.

On Christmas Day I had two small slices of turkey, home-made stuffing, two sprouts, a small portion of carrots, two pigs in bacon, one roast potato, one dessert spoon of mash and some gravy, and that was me done. It was a gracious sufficiency but, then again, I’m only a little personage.

My brother, his partner and their two children are what I’d call large people, and I wish they weren’t, as I’ve no clue how anybody can put on that much weight and remain healthy. They also partook of plum duff and cheese cake to follow, which I didn’t have as I was already full. :frowning:

Mollie darlin’ I and one other on this forum could demonstrate quite easily how it is possible to consume large quantities of food - our body needs and craves it. What you ate wouldn’t even fill the hollow in my tooth.

Mollie I’m very healthy for a sick person and I’m fat. Just in case anyone else is looking in I really don’t care what you’re thoughts on the NHS and overweight people are, not you Molly, Happy Harry I mean. Glad to hear your gnashers were OK, my cousin’s just got some and he says it knocks 20 yrs off him.:-)

Well I didin’t go mad over Christmas, homemade soup for starters, Turkey, a couple of roast potatoes, brussels, swede, no desserts and just a couple of drinks. A few biscuits, no sweets or chocolates.

Tonight is a boring one, Fish Fingers, Mash & Beans.

I am about to make some home made chicken and veg soup, using up some leeks, new potatoes, carrots and a couple of small chicken breast pieces, plus maybe a handful of frozen sweetcorn and beans. Oh and me mums bread pudding as described in another thread.

Back to basics for me today ,chips ,gammon and egg .

Spagetti Bolognaise for us as it is my son’s favourite and it is so simple to prepare and cook.

Ooohhhhh now there’s a thought!!! - mixed grill - burgers, sausages, eggs, mushrooms, beans and chips - my mouth is watering already - thank you darlin’ - was wondering what to cook for my lunch.

A slice of toast for breakfast and then bacon, egg, toms and mushrooms for lunch…hubby will have a small tin of beans and toast to go with it. Tonight I will attack the fruit bowl - he can fend for himself  (got grapes, a baguette and different cheeses he can tuck into)

Bacon, egg, mushrooms (don’t like tomatoes) sounds good Jan darlin’ but where’s the sausages, black pudding, baked beans, soda bread and potato bread to go with them. Fruit for tea??? yeah ok, BUT only after a plate of sarnies!!!

Geoff, I should be stick thin  I don’t have much of an appetite anymore…I know I’d miss meals, if it wasn’t for hubby and his good appetite!
Don’t like black pudding (my old dad’s favourite) and I’ve never tried potato bread…will have to look up a recipe.

Jan darlin’ potato bread as with soda bread are Irish delicacies, you’ll have to ask Jem or Jean for their recipes.

We had boiled eggs and toast earlier but I have a joint of crackling pork in the oven, roast pots and parsnips, brussells, sweet corn and yorkshire puds. I am ready for another roast. Absolutely love crackling.

Braised stuffed lambs hearts, mashed spuds, cauli, cabbage, carrotts with a choice of puds to follow (ie the remains of yesterdays bread and butter pud, rhubarb pie - co-op reduced to 20p - or strawberry jelly - we love jelly -)

Roast turkey, roast potatoes, roast parsnips, stuffing, sprouts, broccoli, carrots… and all the trimmings to go with it:-D

Again Mags, are your family not sick of turkey yet? I ended up picking off the bits and giving them to the cats last night as my son refused to even consider another sandwich <(.;)>

My son wasn’t here for Christmas so we had another Christmas dinner for him today as he is returning home tomorrow  My dinner was a very small portion as still full from the big day!

Oh… I will be cooking another ‘Christmas’ dinner for the family on New Year’s Day too

We had pasta which is quick and easy. I don’t want to see another roast meal for a while.
