What are you having for lunch/dinner? (Part 1)

So am I, especially animals that are destined to become extinct because of man’s greed to eat the few beautiful wild creatures still in existence - for now.

Is it absolutely essential for you to eat the few animals that still exist? Can you not make do with lamb, pork, beef and chicken that are specifically bred for human consumption?

I reckon that if monkey’s arse and brains became available, you’d eat that as well. Let’s deplete all animals on the planet for human consumption. Get rid of the lot of them.

What about rat fricasee, or mayhap swan risotto. I know, a new exciting meat in our butchers - succulent dog steaks. Why not? :frowning:

Monkeys and dogs don’t sound that appealing Mollie darlin’ - there’s not enough meat on them to satisfy my appetite, however I have in the past eaten bear steaks and I have a couple of crocodile steaks in my freezer which I intend to defrost and eat sometime later this week.

Regrettably Swans are fobidden to us peasants by Mrs Windsor, although if given the opportunity, I would have no objection to cooking and eating the ‘drumstick’ from one of them.

I am going to make a sandwich for my supper.

Cheese and onion???, Cheese and sweet pickle???, corned beef and onion???, corned beef and pickle???, Tuna & horseradish???, sausage and brown sauce??? Scrambled egg???, Chip butties???, Fried fish sarnie???.

None of the above, it was sliced Quorn with pickle. I love toasted cheese and onion sandwiches and fried egg sandwiches:) I love cheese.

I suppose you know that eggs are the embryos of chickens. You are eating the undeveloped young of an animal.

Although I’ve not been here for almost 3 weeks, as I’ve been on holiday the who family ended up with a stomach bug so our diet has consisted of chicken soup and dry toast for most of the time, I was the last one to get it, so I’m still feeling a bit dodgy, we have been home a few days now and all I’ve had it dry crackers and soup  i am hoping to manage something a bit more substantial tomorrow.

Dinner at ClaireMarie’s tonight was a delicious Tex-mex chicken dish with lots of pepper, salsa and black beans over basmati rice, with a crunchy, tangy, shredded broccoli and carrot salad. She simmered the chicken in a crock pot. Wonderful!

this sounds the kind of friend to keep in with, careing and can cook. Mmmm

Just had a light meal today while stomach is getting back to normal.

Chicken soup and Scrambled egg and toast for dinner.

out for lunch with a friend had fish chips and mushy peas, huge piece of fish ,moist and creamy, coated in a light crispy batter, chips that were crisp on the outside but floury on the inside and lovely mushy peas mmmm!!

Tomatosoup with foccacia

Found a new ‘pub’ that serves delightful meals and have just returned from a four-day break in Paris and again found a couple of fabulous and reasonbly inexpensive restaurants there too.

We have a £25 voucher for Frankie and Bennie’s American Diner, which we got through a local newspaper promotion, so we are heading there this lunchtime. I’ve never been in an american diner and have no idea what they serve, so I’ll report back later…

Barry, super-sized burgers and fries, be prepared to put your dietaryn efforts back a 1lb or 2.

With our voucher for Frankie and Bennie’s clutched firmly in my sticky little hand we entered the premises with much trepidation but were pleasantly surprised with the ambience of the place. For starters we had meatballs in a chunky neoplolitan tomato sauce, served with a very light toasted garlic bread, all of which was very tasty and could actually have served us as a main course…

However, we soldiered on with the main course and ordered chicken salsa tortilla wraps, served with fries which was all OK but the salsa was a little too sweet for our taste and the portion was much too large so we left some to make sure that we had room for sweet…

For sweet we both ordered the warm chocolate browniies served with whipped cream, caramel ice cream and chocolate sauce, which was absolutely divine…:049:

All in all we were impressed with the whole experience, the pudding was to die for and we will definitely go back for more. Oh, and by the way, with drinks our bill came to £25.20, just 20p more than our voucher plus tip…

A pleasant hour and nice experience we thought…

Today we had Home made Beef & onion pie, Brocali, shreded Cabbage peas & sweetcorn,& Gravy,
Bread & Butter pudding & Custard

Scampi fried in butter, scalloped potatoes and fresh peas. Rice pudding and ice cream for dessert.

I bought some lovely lean Shin beef yesterday & started it off in the slow cooker along with various Veg last night. I switched it off before we went to bed & switched it on again about 11 this morning. It was going until about 5PM when I made some dumplings to go in it. We had it with green beans. Absolutely gorgeous :-D:-D

you just reminded me to get the lamb out for the slow cooker tomorrow, lamb stew with rosemary dumplings, carrot and parsnip, cabbage and mash. Save some cabbage and mash with onion to make bubble and squeek with bacon, and egg for tea Friday.
