What are you having for lunch/dinner? (Part 1)

Sweet Chilli Chicken, steamed brocolli, cauliflower, carrots.

You certainly don’t skimp on your meals, Uncle Joe.

Absolutely!!! - Mall darlin’ - have to stay in shape don’t I. (round is a shape).:lol::lol:

Last night I decided to treat myself again because I just wasn’t in the mood for cooking, so I took myself off to one of the three Chinese takeaways in the Village. Well, I say Village, but it’s more of a Township.

I bought prawn satay (large container), fried rice, a portion of fried mushrooms and two portions of curry sauce.

No, am not a greedy little bugger. I had a decent plateful for tea, then I divided the rest up into three extra Mollie-sized portions for the freezer. My stars, it was deeeeeelish, and all for just under £10.

A seafood salad, with a baked potato, followed by a fresh fruit salad. Nothing like fresh food.mmmmm.

And fruit is so cheap at the moment, you just have to buy it. That’s if you like fruit of course.

we had a quick fish and chips this evening from the chippy, off for a fortnight in Devon tomorrow:-)

Enjoy Kitty. And not to many cream teas.

Kitty darlin’ enjoy your holiday yes, but just ensure you have plenty of wet-weather kit and wellie boots.

Tomato Soup for Lunch along with a heap of Crusty Bread for the Laird.
Tonight we have Steak with Mashed Tatties with Neeps mixed through, Baby Corn on the Side.

I`m just cooking a leg of lamb for later with spuds ,cabbage and carrots ,gravy and not forgetting the mint sauce .Strawberries and clotted cream for dessert .

Joy darlin’ - that sounds very nice, but there is an alternative to mint sauce with Lamb. If you want to know what and how - let me know.

Chicken stir fry (added runner beans and garlic from the garden) with quinoa for lunch, followed by lemon meringue pie with a dollop of creme fraiche on top.

Have cooked a ham shank in slow cooker now adding soaked peas, leeks, carrots and celery,(pea soup)to cook on half heat overnight and have with crusty bread for lunch, scrummy and ham with new pots, brocallie and cauli, steamed leeks and, baby carrots with wholegrain mustard and cheese sauce for tea. Not bad for max £3.50, there’ll be loads of it all left to freeze or make salad and sandwwhiches of. Off on Tuesday to stock up on ham shanks, gammon joints, from a posh garden centre, all produce from within 20 miles, and pots veg and eggs from a small farm shop, everyone agrees food tastes much better more flavour.Round trip is about 90 miles but what we save pays for fuel and a meal not bad going I’d say and we keep 5 households going for a few weeks.
Here we come Inglewhite!!

Hazel darlin’ don’t forget to stop off at the off-licence and pick up a nice bottle of cider. Ham shank cooked in cider in the slow cooker is fabulous!!!

Gaw you can tell you’re not from up north UJ. If you have ham shank you make pea soup with water you’ve boiled shank in. Smells bleddy lovely am off out with dog now will have whacking big bowlful when I come back umm!! Begger it’s raining oh well will have to get wet then.

What time’s tea then, Hazel. Am on me way! It’s ages since I made that, but not really worth it just for one.

I’m having a “child’s” meal tonight of fish fingers, beans and chips.

Mollie darlin’, children’s meals wouldn’t even fill the hole in my tooth.

 I’m topped up again now till around 9 p.m. when I shall have another nibble. I like to graze as I can’t have a big plateful in front of me as I’m easily over-faced.

I tend to make the dinners, Mrs G bakes and our son bakes bread, so we’re pretty well covered.
I’m making goulash this evening.

This is my first post so I hope I press all the right buttons.
For lunch I had some fruit.
For the evening meal I had yesterdays leftovers from a roast chicken dinner. Comfort food.
I have to be careful what I eat as I put on weight just looking at food.
Happily I have managed to lose 3 stone this last year & I hope to lose another 3 stone this year but it’s a struggle.
