Mall
that was Voted BBC Radio 4 Best Food Market 2008 in the ‘Food and farming awards’ wasn’t it . It sounded lovely ![]()
This is breakfast by the way, got to get into the kitchen before Joe so its a bowl of bran flakes and two slices of some french bread toasted that i bought in M&S, Sainsbury’s also do a nice French loaf.
It’s a fantastic market. They have a huge choice of fresh foods and freshly cooked foods on offer, including the famous" Bury Black Pudding" Not that I bought any ‘yuk’ and Manchester Tarts. Which, by the way is my avatar:-D
They also have a fish market that offer a variety of fish and seafood.
There are some great little cafes, which are bursting at the seams with day trippers.
We had intended to get the metro link back to Manchester to have lunch but we managed to get a table at a fish and chip cafe and I must say they were the best that I have tasted. Naughty but very, very nice:lol:
I forgot to mention the wide variety of other goods on offer, from the humble toilet roll:lol:to a washing machine, with all manner of household goods and clothing in between.
The atmosphere is fantastic, with vendors who are trying very hard trying to out shout the competition:lol:
We had a great day and the weather was very clement.
We ended it by having a nice glass of beer in Manchester while waiting for the rush hour to clear, before getting the train home. Well that’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it:lol:
If anyone ever gets to my neck of the woods, it is well worth the trip.
Well I did my personal piggy impersonation tonight and, following my recently acquired ill-gotten gains at bingo last night, I went and got myself fish and peas from the Chinese. I could only manage half of it though as their fish are HUGE!
What??? - no chips, no pickled onions??? - Oh Mollie darlin’ you’re letting the side down!!!

You won at the Bingo then Mollie - congratulations.
I have just eaten at 7.15pm - lamb loin, with baby sweetcorn, mushrooms and brocolli stir fried in butter with a little chilli. Then a yoghurt for afters.
I’m a Northerner and we don’t eat pickled onions with a chippy din-dins. ![]()
Believe me, the fish wasn’t much smaller than me and if I’d got chips with it, it would have sunk a battle ship, the amount they give you. ![]()
Now that sounds deeeelish! I just might try that one night. ![]()
Beans on toast with a poached egg on top and strawberries with a little yoghurt.
Smoked paprika chicken with tiny potatoes and garden peas here tonight.
Believe me, the fish wasn’t much smaller than me and if I’d got chips with it, it would have sunk a battle ship, the amount they give you.
That sounds perfect for me Mollie darlin’

Broccoli quiche, peas and sliced potatoes fried.
Didn’t have room for a dessert but will be picking at the fruit bowl soon.
A ham salad with a baked potato, strawberries and apricots to follow.
Mollie darlin’ - is this you??? - Did you make it three in a row???
One UK ticket-holder scooped a massive £148.6 million in Friday’s EuroMillions draw, a National Lottery spokesman said.
The prize is the second-largest jackpot yet in the UK.
It is the largest pot since Colin and Chris Weir, from Largs in North Ayrshire, won £161 million last July, with the difference in the exchange rate meaning this week’s jackpot is slightly less than that.
The Lottery spokesman said: "Lady Luck is clearly shining down on the UK once again with another big EuroMillions win this year - the seventh jackpot to be won so far in 2012.
"This new jackpot winning ticket-holder flies into second place in the exclusive National Lottery Rich List.
“We have plenty of champagne on ice and look forward to welcoming the lucky ticket-holder into the National Lottery millionaires’ club. Over 2,900 people have become millionaires since the National Lottery began and, to date, our players have raised an amazing £28 billion and counting for National Lottery Good Causes.”
The winning main EuroMillions numbers were 50, 21, 17, 48 and 11, and the Lucky Star numbers were 09 and 10.
