What are you having for lunch/dinner? (Part 1)

Mollie I can understand you not wanting to cook after a days work when you get home, it happens a lot in our house with my shifts and the kids and hubby who are at home at different times.

its great right now as at least for the next 5/6 weeks we are all home for a nice family meal most of the time

Sadly, it’s very easy for folk who live alone to not cook for themselves and not eat properly. I do eat properly - to my way of thinking and my meals are very mixed, healthy and varied - but there’s no way I’d eat a meal like that every day of the week, or even once a month as it would be just too boring.

Mollie darlin’ - invest in a slow cooker, prepare your meal before you go to work, switch on and whilst you’re at work the meal is cooking. It will be ready the moment you open your front door after work.

this evening about 8 ish we are having roast beef with all the trimmings.

for desert i have made a Date and Walnut cake looking forward to a slice of that

Sounds lovely Kitty :-), I was supposed to be having roast beef too but woke up with a funny tummy so will be sticking to porridge instead :-(.

we are looking forward to it, later than normal but we had a very late lunch at 2pm, hence the late dinner.

I hope you feel better soon Meg.

…thank you Kitty  I find resting the tummy and porridge are great healers. Enjoy your beef, I think I can smell it from here  yum…

I’ve always had a slow cooker from the early 80s when they first came out and I love them.

Problem with me, is that I don’t always know what I’m going to fancy to eat, so I wait till I get home and see what jumps out of the freezer at me.

They are a great time and trouble saver.
I throw whatever in it and then go out for the day. Evening meal all ready for the weary travellers and not much washing up either.

I was given some home grown courgettes, which I absolutely hate, but I prepared them and stuffed them with bacon pieces, crumbled feta cheese, tomato frita, olives and a little chilli. My OH has enjoyed them, I haven’t had anything yet, I think it will be cereals again for me:-)

Loretta darlin’ - why not try a chorizo omlette???

I don’t like chorizo Uncle Joe, my OH does though. I enjoy trying new recipes and am quite happy to cook fairly elaborate meals now and then but I’m not much of a “foodie” person, never have been. I’m quite happy with a tomato sandwich or something similar, I’m useless with “regular” mealtimes and mostly I’m only really hungry after midnight. I enjoy going out for meals but have never yet finished a meal in a restaurant.

I’m sure I would find something if I was able to see your fridge, freezer or cupboards. If all else fails, just down the road from me are a few take-aways - chinese, and Indian, a traditional fish 'n chip restaurant, a kebab take-away and a couple of Pizza shops too - so I have no shortage of choice.

Just the way I like 'em, Steve.

We are having a trip to Bury market and then into Manchester city centre for lunch. There are all manner of ethnic eateries, no sure which one we will choose this time.
