I think the valid point is that all politicians lie.
My main problem with Trump is the same problem as most of the world has with him. He is unpredictable and doesn’t respect rules or protocol. If he wants to turn the USA upside down that is the responsibility of those who voted for him. It’s his influence on world policy that affects the rest of us who do not have a say.
My mistake, uninformed, is the correct word.
Trump points out individuals compared to the peace, loving, haters that try to degrade swaths/groups of people.
Trump really needs to focus on the US. He doesn’t have to worry about the rest of the world. The US should be his number one priority.
The only example I have is the one I posted about the black hole that the tories supposedly left upon their exit. However, when changing from one economic system to a new one there will obviously be unfinished work by the previous party, and no doubt when everyone has had enough of Starmer and the labour party and we re-elect the tories a similar ‘Black Hole’ will be discovered.

There is nothing more fierce than formidable, unconditional love. There is not a thing more courageous than compassion. But if my belief in equity, empathy, goodness, and love indeed makes me or people like me snowflakes, then you should know - WINTER IS COMING.” - eminem
Trump has made it clear that democracy doesn’t apply to him, he has control of the supreme court, Congress and the senate. There’s nothing stopping him from doing anything.Adieu USA.
Trump will attempt to do what he attempted to do in his last term, divide and conquer. The popular vote is in Trump’s favor at 49.9 % to Harris’ 48.4%, a 1.5 % difference, a deeply divided nation . The bigger issue facing Us voters and candidates is why Moderates are not stepping forward, the excuse thus far has generally been they did not want split voters , sending them to 3rd party candidates, but they need to step forward, all voters are being given are extremist candidates Biden / Trump / Harris, and this will give us 12 years of inept leadership, remember traitor Don literally had no accomplishments in his first term except for a poorly negotiated peace with the Taliban. Trump came in riding a Obam growing economy , then hid on his golf course while Cov19 reeked havoc on the US / world economies.
The kindest thing one can see is that the clean sweep of wins is an astonishing achievement. It is certain that Trump now feels he has the full endorsement to do what he likes, has dropped the hesitation of his first term, and has put all the charges against him into the bin. He is unleashed.
When he is about to step into office we will need a new thread. It seems likely that his actions will be rapid and radical. The USA will is likely to see significant changes, and these will impact the rest of the world. I fear, indeed I’m going to predict, that none of this will be for the better.
Trump values the US stock market trends more than anything. So corporate profits will go up to enable that. That is achieved through lower costs (especially labour costs) and higher prices. Tariffs and isolationist policies won’t increase US exports so companies will rely on reaming out profits from US customers.
Trump does not seem to apply any measures of quality of life for US citizens and views everything in win or lose terms. People who are not winning (poor, vulnerable, ill, etc.) are losers and will not deserve any help. Social care, even that currently enshrined in law, will be cut. He can change anything, remember.
Trump does like having groups to blame. Hence the focus on immigrants. Expect brutal treatment and continued scapegoating.
He will “focus on America”. In practical terms that means backing away from international commitments, treaties (e.g. environment protection) and parts of the world he does not see as critical to the US. This will give rise to further expansionist efforts by China and Russia.
Some may like all this. But for the life of me I can’t see how this will improve the lives of ordinary Americans. It definitely will cause medium/long term global issues.
This administration has not raised the the taxes, yet. But what the people can’t seem to figure out is , everyone is getting increases in pay. First that’s more taxes you are paying. Then the things you are buying are more expensive, which is higher tax. Then increasing the cost to manufacturing, including wages, business taxes, in which is passed on to the consumer. Makes the dollar worth pennies on the dollar.
So when the government is handing out money to everyone and everything, someone has to pay for it. So Americans, you wanted this administration and now everyone will pay the tab. This is what happens when you don’t look far enough ahead. You get out maneuvered and in comes “cause and effect”. Wake up America.
I’ve been catching up on this thread. Reading back I find that the peace loving haters did a lot of bashing on an African American. Wonder what was their true intention was. ,
Now, you have an incoming administration which will cut the taxes of the rich, place tariffs on imports, which in turn raises the price of imported goods and kills competition, which in turn will raise prices even further, and we haven’t even gotten to the damage US imposed tariffs will have on US exports. All that bologna you have been spewing, and we haven’t even touched the tip of the iceberg mass deportations will have on farm labor, and other industries who rely foreign / seasonal workers, and in the end, the US will be spewing out more money on a southern border problem no administration has had the common sense to address for decades. Over the next 4 years there is just going to be one big economic / social mess to clean up, and traitor Don will retreat to his golf course while Rome burns. And Robin, I have not even touched on the havoc your leader will reek on the elderly, the poor, working class Americans, US social / healthcare systems.
Yet, traitor Don lowered the taxes on the rich, it appears (as if we do not already know) the burden of taxes will remain on working class Americans, and when they(Corporate) drive us into another recession, they will need American tax money to bail them out. Look at Detroit, Michigan, Baltimore, Maryland (just to name a few), and most any high crime US city that was once factory cities, Corporpocracy did this, as a matter of fact Corporate America has been responsible for most of the economic downturns. In summation, no political group (right / left) have done any thing but but bleed workin class America, and "do nothing Don and the GOP (Republican Party) have been the worst of the lot.
You are correct, and incorrect, TT (traitor Don) may think he has a free hand, but all ol’ TT will do is attempt to drive a deeply split country into kaos, and the world will watch as a once great nation crumbles.
I think that is overly pessimistic. The US $15 trillion economy will largely keep on rolling. The US tech giants dominance will largely continue. What will crumble is the quality of life for the poorer Americans. What will explode is the buying of favours. It has been noted that the “donating” to get influence and the jobs for friends & family seen in Trump’s first term will get worse and worse. Nice work is you can get it, which most won’t.
Aaaah, the beautiful effectiveness of sanctioned major tariffs After the impotency and apathy of the current administration, all it took was a single announcement from Trump to get the ball rolling with Mexico. (I told you that for all of her blustering, Sheinbaum would act). The Mexican government stopped sitting on their hands and just executed a record drug seizure to the tune of a third of a billion dollars - or 20 million doses of fentanyl -in the Sinaloa region. This massive seizure will shake up China too, without it costing American citizens a single cent .
I’ll try to explain tariffs in basic laymen’s terms. If one country buys $10 million worth of product, (we will say Oranges) the other country has to buy $10 million worth of that countries product, (we will say Apples). Ok. If that is not meet, (the apples) then the apples that we did get, An additional $2 (tariff) will be added to each one that was delivered. And to met the requirements, another country is asked for the difference of non delivered apples. That country get an exchange of the same cost of produce.
Yes. People that are wanting to pay the higher price will pay the tariff or buy the apple with out the tariff.
I can’t make it any simpler then that. That is why the are different prices on apples at the store. Not because they are better but because they have a tariff added. Look at where your apples come from.
Pessimistic, huh ? Abolishment of civil rights, Christian hypocrisy shoveled down everyone’s throat (we are a very diverse nation, many religious belief concepts), a fascist leader wanting to become dictator, and you think I’m overly pessimistic ? Trump’s policies of tariffs and isolationism, pessimistic ? If we’re not careful, Trump will have American troops “goosestepping” alongside Russian troops in Ukraine, at the very least Trump and his fascist Congress will end up cutting aid to Ukraine. The only ones who will prosper under traitor Don are his Christofascist following and the wealthy, working class Americans, the elderly, and the poor foot the bill.
