US Election 2024 antics

…and you do not think climate change is the result of man’s greed ? The two are intertwined.

Then in summation, you are suggesting we (humans ) are not as smart and / or advanced as we think we are (correct to an extent). We make life better for ourseles , for a time and a few, but eventually it’s survival of the fittest (wealthiest), and this is only til we destroy everything through war and/ or our eco destroying policies. Lets hope the next species to inhabit earth will learn from our failures, but then again, intelligence / larger brains have only served our species to create / invent more ways to feed our greed.

It’s funny, because those who do not support Trump and / or have just left the GOP were also considered traitors. You hear Republicans speaking of uniting the US while simultaneously seeking political revenge, thus creating a deeper divide. The GOP and their Christofascist following have worked vigorously to crush women’s rights of abortion and and force censorship on our libraries / schools, and promoting religious schools (undermining public education), their goal is to brainwash our youth, creating a society of religious puppets without the ability to think, no different from Iran or any religious State.

We are victims of our own nature, which we cannot escape. As a group we are a bit like dinosaurs in the thinking department. By the time the head moves the tail we will have been eaten.

Then no matter how we have evolved and grown intellectually, we are doomed by our natural instincts, no more than the creatures of the forest, and greed is one of the basic instincts of survival. Your point is very interesting. You see I’ve always felt that Man’s (the species) survival, based on his intellectuality and resulting technology, gave the human race an ace card in the game survival, even his reaching out and developing other planets suitable for Man’s survival. Your suggestion means man cannot / will overcome his most basic survival instinct, greed, and he hasn’t since he first appeared.

Humanity can only progress if we recognise our limitations. I think in the past this must have happened following various crises. When the madness of a crisis ends there is a moment of clarity and insight, but then complacency brings us back to the mindless distraction and egoism.

We shall see, I never a fan of Trump but that series brings up details that the rest of the world was probably unaware of, I mean the media only gives the bare details if it reports on the USA at all, I suspect most of our knowledge comes from watching popular TV shows.

Politics is not talked about as much in Australia as it appears to be in other countries.

His intentions were always made public in his speeches, he never hid it. Trump went so far as to say if Christian women voted for him 2024, they would not have to vote again. You just look at the people he is picking to serve under him, he has never lied about his intentions. I’ve have said this once, and I will repeat this, those who voted for him will not in later years be able to say “they didn’t know”, Trump has always voiced his intentions, one of the few things he never lied about, and on top of his plans will be out to seek political vengeance.

I was leading a regional effort within our party to strike down Gaetz as nominee for Attorney General, and the news is in that he has withdrawn his name! What makes this even better, is that in resigning his House seat to quash the ethics report, he is no longer my FL House representative! It’s all speculation as to why, but Hallelujah! Unfortunately, I doubt we have seen the last of him.

I do love a good bipartisan Congressional effort :sunglasses:.

Same here about the Commonwealth. If we want news, we have to look for it, and then we have to determine the political leaning of the source.

An you support a President and his cronies who wish to control and manipulate both the Senate and the House   , the hypocrisy of politics.

I suggest that you read up my thread history and understand that the electorate determines control of the the Legislative and Executive branches.

I’m commenting on who you choose to support (which is your right), and how it contradicts your statements.

I know little about Gaetz but I did see this on you tube.

It is unwise and unproductive to consider every elected official and every piece of legislation as binary - good/bad, right/wrong. You have to work with the hand that is played, and that is exactly what I do as a voting citizen. Being against a Trump nominee and being for any number of Republican policies that happen to be congruent is with Trump’s is rational and not “inconsistent.”
