We bought a couple of “blade less neck fans” from eBay last week, lots advertised at various prices - we paid under £20 each with typically 3 days delivery. USB charged but you need your own charger. The ones we bought are three speed AND THEY WORK! Indeed they work surprisingly well.
I lived in Lisbon for many years … 40 or 45 was not unusual, but quite different to a sweltering London. Lisbon gets a cooling breeze off the Atlantic, bars, cafes and other public buildings have marble walls & floors and/or aircon. Plenty of shaded outdoor spots …
It sounds delightful. d00d!
It has been tolerable today, mostly around 22C. We had an early vet visit so we left at 0830 and back home at about 10:00. A bit sweaty at the end.
What heat? It really doesn’t bother me!
As l have said on here before, l still have two duvets on me at night and l sleep soundly all through the night.
Yet in the winter, l am absolutely frozen!
Oh and the best thing about this weather is, l can spread my block butter more easily!
It’s perfect weather for tucking your dress into your knickers and paddling.
You make me wish I lived by the sea, cos it’s not the same with a pair of Y-fronts and a bucket.

I might give that a pass…
Cor, I haven’t done that for years, Ripple.
I’d love to if only I was near the coast.
they have suddenly realised it hasn’t rained properly in weeks…hosepipe ban has been mentioned. This is a state controlled media preamble to a government announcement of the dreaded ban. Looking at hydroponics online…
Supermarkets will be selling out of bottled water if this goes on much longer.
I hope panic buying will not start again, but I fear it will.
It’s so easily done, I wouldn’t beat yourself up over it
I have tried using that water retaining gel in the past although it didn’t seem to make much difference.
It was probably down to my appalling mixing technique, I’m no Percy Thrower alas!
Oh dear!
I’ve just seen the BBC forecast, amber warning for West Sussex from Sunday. Thirty five degrees on Wednesday and not a drop of rain coming for quite a while.
Good luck to those hardy souls who decide to take a day trip to Brighton, train travel will be a laugh a minute…not!
Sardines spring to mind.
Only a year ago the UK was waking up to flooding.

She certainly can Can-Can
Well today on the forecast they were saying that after a lull this weekend temperatures could rise as high as 39 degrees next week. But what disturbed me more is the forecaster saying there was a risk of power disruptions. Eh? Is this some subliminal message nowt to do with the weather but everything to do with implosion at the centre of our infrastructure due to poor leadership?
Blimey, this is getting really worrying now.
The weather people here, said they will know more tomorrow.
