Hi
The warmer countries are designed for this sort of heat.
Different architecture and layout which has developed by commonsense over centuries.
Open plazas, narrow shady streets, trees, awnings etc for shade.
Air Conditioning is common…
They use different road coverings which do not melt and different railway tracks which don’t buckle under the heat.
If the weather becomes hotter more of ten we will have to adapt.
Our Politicians and Private Companies do not like investing the future.
The attitude of some Politicians.
Not ideal advice for some who are likely to be affected.

Quite, I’m not sure if he’s on a wind up or sincerely talking out of his bottom?
He’s a politician - they’re trained from birth to do both at the same time!

Slight digression here …

If it was hot hummus, then I may allow it…

John Hayes is a twat. Yet another “minister” who has no idea about what he is pontificating about. A professional politician with absolute no real world knowledge about this subject or for that matter any other having previously been a glorified salesman.
Today 25c, feels like that too, tomorrow 28c, Monday 30c, cooler Tuesday at 24c & Wednesday dropping to 18c & hopefully rain. If they are right that is.

Must be a great job to get paid for guessing the weather. I could do that for up here…I’d make a fortune!

Oh dear me. 2 days of heat and people are panicking. V and I lived in Italy for many years and it’s like that EVERY late July and August. Yes, oldies do die because of the heat but they usually have underlying health problems or are already well into their 90s, even centenarians.
Just keep yourself well hydrated and stay out of direct sunlight that’s all you have to do.

Yes, I’ll be keeping the windows and blinds shut, fan & wet towels on, dog in the fridge…

And have siesta during the hottest part of the day. That really does help.

Blinds shut on the sunny side of your property. Windows open on the shady side.

Went trudging over fields and down a hot dusty lane today on my five mile walk. Some of the crops in the fields were being watered, but most fields were dry and crops were dying. There may be shortages of some foods this winter.
Yes, and it’s not just here, it’s a global problem. It seems that 2002 has been a particularly bad year for drought and crop failure.

Yep Chilli, no doubt there is something happening with the weather. But I don’t think we should get too excited about climate change. It takes years before these blips actually make any difference to the average climate.

I tend to think about this in two ways, what will the situation be in the longer term and what will the consequences be in the near future. I’m becoming increasingly concerned about what’s going to be available for the larder next year and perhaps more to the point how much it’s going to cost.
Ok, I’ll be candid, I’ve been rather dismissive when it comes to the issue of climate change, I’m swiftly changing my attitude.
Am I the only one thinking that this is getting far more air time than it deserves? We had temperatures not far off this about three or four years ago but it wasn’t all over the news 24/7. Plus that year it lasted from Spring through to Autumn. This is more about all the other problems we have and it’s being blamed on the weather now. Previously being blamed on Covid.
