Trump supporters stormed Capital Hill - Update - Mike Pence testifies in criminal probe of Trump

Taking a gun or anything else to cause damage or injury during a peaceful protest is not for self defence. These are organised violent disturbances of the public peace.

Yes. I was joking Cindy. Note the exclamation mark!

I wouldn’t be either, but Trump would be at risk also.

Apparently, a state of emergency has been declared in Washington DC

This is an absolute tragedy.

Unbelievable

While many are now pushing for Trump to be removed as President under the 25th amendment, Mattis suggested he should be stripped of his citizenship entirely.

Former US Defense Secretary Mattis says the country will overcome this ‘stain’ and Donald Trump will be left as a ‘man without a country’

The ex-President may choose this option voluntarily. Trump pondered the possibility of leaving the U.S. after an election loss during a campaign rally in Georgia.

Update: Arrests continuing, the most serious warrants have not been issued as investigations continue.

The 25th was blocked early on by a West Virginia Representative in the House of Representatives. 200 Democrats are co-sponsoring Articles of Impeachment that will be introduced Wednesday morning. Biden has expressed concern that too much focus on impeachment stall what he wants done soon after election. Impeachment can continue after the election, and Trump can claim that a rushed decision violates his right to defend himself.

The news and conversation of the day, while everyone stands by for action from Congress and more arrests, is almost exclusively centered on the issue of corporate censorship.

States are taking head the warnings of potential riots and protests on or near the inauguration. Each state is making its own plans to address concerns.

Trump has declared a state of emergency which enables the activation of the National Guard and other resources in anticipation of any potential for trouble at the inauguration.

Trump could set up a podium outside the White House and rant there all day couldn’t he?I’m sure Fox would broadcast it.

It would be so tragic if he was shot dead accidentally by one of his own supporters

The world is watching

It’s 10:38 in the evening and the House has narrowly passed a resolution calling on the Vice President to convene the Cabinet and move towards removing the President from office.

The Vice President has already said that he is not going to move forward. Here is his letter to the Speaker of the House elaborating his position:

Four years of loyalty and he was rewarded by Trump by telling him to do what he couldn’t do.It would have been easy for him to agree to the 25th but he didn’t, so good on him for that.
Impeachment will make Trump the victim in the eyes of his mob ,he’s only got a few days left ,just ignore him. That would be the worse punishment.

The parallel between the capitol rioters and 1930’s Nazi Germany’s Brown Shirts is frightening.
It looks like the F.B.I. is going full-steam ahead with arrests across the nation. Thus-far 170 have been charged with everything: trespassing, rioting, terrorism, sedition, and murder. Over 100,000 tips have been received from the public, saying, “I know exactly who that guy is”.

A truly shameful action on the part of the extreme rightwing and especially so on Trump.

The evening news has announced that everyone ID’d , has been put on a “no-fly” list

The only way to deal with those low-lives is to make an example of them and , if convicted, sentence them to the maximum allowed by law.

I’ll wait for the movie to come out, it will probably be more accurate than all the news reports. Most people these days think that movies are the news

Any guess as to the title of the saga?

Betrayed.

How about something a bit more catchy?

Bakerman, do you think the Inauguration will go off without a hitch or will there be more demonstrations?

Impeachment is the better route but yes, the negative is that he’ll be hailed as a Martyr

Impeachment vote to proceed on Wednesday?

As I understand it, if Trump is impeached, he won’t be able to stand for president at the next election so maybe the impeachment is a move by the Democrats to do just that?
