Tory MP accused of watching pornography in Commons chamber

What is it with these numpties who say one one one day then the complete opposite the next?

Hi

My view of things.

The Local Elections are this week, both sides are using the Media, in all its forms to slag off the others.

This is standard practice nowadays.

There are no elections in my area, we have a solid Conservative majority.

Politics, in my opinion, is at an all time low.

Neil Parish has told the BBC he is resigning as an MP after admitting he watched pornography twice in the House of Commons.

Mr Parish - the MP for Tiverton and Honiton in Devon - said it had been a “moment of madness” and “I was not proud of what I was doing”.

He said the first time was accidental after looking at tractors, but the second time was deliberate.

“looking at tractors”

Hi

It is a case of follow my leader, it really is as simple as that.

Boris tried to save his mate, Owen Patterson, he failed.

Partygate has shown his utter contempt for the rules he has personally set.

This prat also thought he could get away with it, he failed.

Those who complained about him were two female Tory MPs.

Viewing porn on a mobile at work is gross misconduct, an immediately dismissible offense.

The only exception to viewing Porn at work is to collect evidence and this is done under strictly regulated conditions.

Tractors!!

There once was a tractor named Willy

Well they are good for ‘Pulling things’

:face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Who did something exceedingly silly!

I’ve been thinking a lot about this andI think he was very foolish to do this at work ESPECIALLY in the houses of parliament for goodness sakes

Do I think he should resign, yes I do, it’s just not on to be conducting yourself in work like this, but
Men and even some women watch porn all the time, sex is part of human nature so Im thinking is this such a heinous crime.

I feel really sorry for his wife and family, it’s very embarrassing for them but he’s been made to be some kind of monster and the media will have a field day enjoying ridiculing and embarrassing him even further. How long will we be hearing about this for, I hope not long because I want to hear some ‘real’ news, not about some bloke who can’t control his sexual urges.

He’s resigned and rightly so, so shouldn’t they just leave it be now and get on with some really important news. I know this might shock some folks but I actually found myself feeling a bit sorry for him as well as thinking ‘what a prat’

His wife is forgiving him and standing by him, Mrs Parish said the allegation was “very embarrassing” and described her husband as “quite a normal guy” and “a lovely person”.

“If you were mad with every man who looked at pornography, you would not have many wives in the world,” she said. I agree with her.

His biggest crime was looking at it in work, the fact he was looking at it doesn’t bother me, its out there for all to see if that’s what turns you on. .

Were they in the video?

I thought she sounded very sensible

That is probably true but which other workplace has a bar and allows employees to drink to excess?

As an aside - when I was a postman in London SW1 the sorting office had a bar because they lost too many postman to the local pubs but you weren’t allowed to drink to excess.

It wasn’t tractors he was searching Google for he mispelt ‘threshers’:smiley:

At a lull in proceedings I looked online for a new tractor.

The soil in my constituency is predominantly clay and difficult to turn, so I needed something appropriate.

I therefore googled “rough ploughing” hoping to find a powerful tractor.

To my horror

Good post Lion Queen, and my thoughts on the matter exactly

I agree Lion Queen!
The real problem is that his stupid mistake has upset his family & yet again given all the other political parties a chance to criticize, in the hope of their party winning his seat.
I am ashamed to see that every individual’s mistake is used by opposing parties to show that they would be the best government. They behave like children and should know better. If politicians want a job in the house of commons , they should be judged on how well they can run the country
not how many of the opposition they can criticize for insignificant failings. Isn’t that what they get paid for?

How come it’s been made into a party issue?
So a bloke watches some porn on his phone at work, he should be reprimanded and given a warning. It’s not like he has been accused of fiddling his expenses is it.
Another example of the easily offended group making a mountain out of a molehill

Can you be sacked for watching porn at work?

Whether or not you can be sacked for watching pornography at work will depend on the policy at that particular workplace. However, employers are generally likely to consider doing so gross misconduct and a sackable offence.

Although it is not a criminal offence to watch legal pornography at work, it may constitute sexual harassment under the 2010 Equality Act, violating another employee’s dignity or creating a hostile or degrading work environment.

Employers are obliged to conduct a full investigation into a complaint that a member of staff has watched pornography while at work. This will consider factors including the nature of the images being viewed, whether it was viewed by mistake and other mitigating circumstances.

If the individual in question is found to have viewed illegal images, this would constitute a criminal offence and would then be a matter for the police, as well as resulting in the employee’s dismissal from their job.

According to figures obtained by the Press Association in January 2018, there were 24,473 attempts to access pornographic websites by devices connected to the parliamentary network from June to October 2017. This amounted to 160 attempts a day.

IMO, All such attempts should be revealed along with the names of the perpetrators

It’s all a plot to get Frostie back, into the HOC, so that he can the vacant seat, hold it for the Tories, and then take over the role of PM.

I’m off to the Bookies, Post Haste, to get a bet in whilst the odds are still good.

I’m bad, I know, wave goodbye to my feminist reputation as it flies out the window :zipper_mouth_face:

But I can’t help feeling a bit sorry for him.

I don’t think he was doing it meaning any women to see, just bored and having a quick shufti.

Nasty and not allowed of course but all the sanctimonious moral high grounders are getting on my wick too

Johnson hasn’t resigned and isn’t that woman who threatened to stab someone in the face still and MP too?
