Tory MP accused of watching pornography in Commons chamber

Anyway, we’ve being having a right laugh at him saying he was looking up tractors and ended up on a porn site with a similar name :rofl::rofl:

What could that name possibly be?

We came up with “Big Diggers” and “Moving hard core” :tractor::tractor::tractor::tractor:

But he’s a South West bloke so we bet it was the Wurzels

All together now……

:notes: I drove my tractor through your haystack last night ……:notes:

I agree with you Maree and Queenie.
I once googled meat market…:exploding_head:

These days it seems the best way to destroy a political party is to criticize the current governments members for their personal mistakes.
Surely the public are more interested in what our MPs do to improve how the country is run , but it seems that many of the public get more excitement from criticizing them for doing things , that I am sure many of the public have done themselves!
I am certain that most men have viewed some kind of porn. I am sure many women have done so to, so I think that misogyny cannot be blamed for this MP’s actions if women do the same.

I often think that the public, who have been so critical, are maybe pretending to be so shocked to show themselves to be better people…even though some of them will have also viewed porn!

It’s not just a matter of what but also when, where and with whom.

A better bet for our beleaguered chum, would have been saying that he was looking at this book. Very topical in the circumstances! :innocent:

I appreciate that he should have been working and he should have been punished for watching dirty videos when at work, but I doubt that many people would lose their job & have the national press report what he did on every news channel.
Nobody’s life was at risk as he was just looking at dirty pictures, and let’s be fair he was only not doing his job, like many MP’s do when they fall asleep in the house of commons.
I can’t recall anybody losing their job & having the news report it on every news bulletin, when they were just looking at dirty videos, so the disgrace and punishment was far worse than any other worker would get. We all deserve to be treated equally!

Most people would have been sacked and of course they would not be on every news channel a rather ridiculous statement.

But this is just one in a plethora of sleazy goings on with politician’s accross all parties and all parliaments, I wonder why the SNP government were not banging their usual anti Westminster drum then I remembered they have their own sleazy members.

No, we shouldn’t.

An MP is a people’s representative paid for with their taxes - the public nature of the offence that he committed brought the HoC into disrepute and warrants a public rebuke.

If he hadn’t resigned then he may have been charged with sexual harassment under the 2010 Equality Act for violating another employee’s dignity or creating a hostile or degrading work environment.

If the lady, who reported him, had been paying more attention to what was being discussed in the HoC, rather than trying to see what he was watching on his phone , perhaps she wasn’t doing the job that our taxes pay her to do.
I don’t think he was trying to show her what was on his phone, so I can’t see that it was harassment !
Anyway I have no intention of discussing this further, I was just giving my opinion on the situation, but I cannot agree that we should not all be treated equally as I believe that is the law!

The country is going to hell on a handcart. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

So, MPs are the same as joe in the street, if that is the case, how come they earn SIX times the living wage?

Well, get Six times the living wage.

Whether we are paupers or millionaires. the law says we should all be treated equally.

I was shocked when I read this. Not necessarily why others might have been but he was my MP for a few years. He was a good MP, cared about his community and when I contacted him directly to help me with a few issues he always responded very quickly.

Many a good politician has been unseated by the MSM with their ‘high moral ground’ and easily offended party, and most of the reporting journalists are tossers!

I have worked with 2 people in the past who were sacked for watching porn at work - they weren’t reported in the newspaper but one was taken to a disciplinary hearing and then dismissed - the other resigned to avoid a disciplinary hearing.
Inappropriate use of the internet at work is considered gross misconduct and a sackable offence by a lot of employers.

One chap I worked with in a financial company was found out by the IT section because he inadvertently let in a virus to the company’s network when he clicked on a porn site and could have caused a security breach in the company’s systems if the systems hadn’t detected and alerted attention to it.

In my last job, a chap was using our shared office computer on NHS Trust premises - another colleague was using the computer after him and kept getting porn-related Ads popping up on the screen.
She wondered where we could have picked up a cookie for such explicit ads, so she looked at site history and saw this guy had been visiting lots of porn sites every day she looked back at.
She advised the Boss, who asked the IT team to check for any other problems.
He was given the option of resigning or being taken to a disciplinary tribunal - he chose to resign to save himself the embarrassment of a disciplinary hearing.

It’s not just the act of looking at porn when you should be working that is an issue for employers - there’s also the issue of accessing dodgy sites on your employers computers or using their IT systems that may compromise their security -
I don’t know how the internet services work inside the House of Commons and I don’t know how the MPs keep their secure and confidential work separate from their personal stuff - but it was one of the questions that came to my mind when I read this story.

Anyway, MPs are in the House to represent their constituents - and they know the proceedings are televised - it’s not a good look to be playing with your devices when you’re supposed to be listening to debates and discussions in the House.
I recall a fuss and a lot of criticism when the TV cameras picked up an MP playing a game of Candy Crush on his iPad in the House - sitting there watching porn shows a much worse lack of judgement.

Don’t I know it! Our new MP has come in for a lot of stick because he’s gay. As if that makes a difference. His family has been in the area as farmers for a few hundred years and he does a lot for us.

Frankly the media have a lot to answer for
