So who is leading the US? If your counter terror chief says there is no imminent threat, what is really going on here and why would any other country want to get involved if there are serious doubts within the US administration?
Who is Joe Kent, and why did he resign as Trump’s counterterrorism chief?
Kent is the highest-level official to leave the Trump administration over the US president’s decision to wage war on Iran.
Kent pointed out that Trump had pledged to keep the US out of “never-ending wars”, like those that had unfolded in Iraq and Afghanistan.
“Until June 2025, you understood that the wars in the Middle East were a trap that robbed America of the precious lives of our patriots and depleted the wealth and prosperity of our nation,” Kent wrote.
But he argued that Trump had been misled about the threat posed by Iran. He blamed members of the media, as well as high-ranking Israeli officials and lobbyists, for prompting Trump to abandon his America First agenda.
“This echo chamber was used to deceive you into believing that Iran posed an imminent threat to the United States, and that if you struck now, there was a clear path to a swift victory,” Kent said.
“This was a lie and is the same tactic the Israelis used to draw us into the disastrous Iraq war that cost our nation the lives of thousands of our best men and women. We cannot make this mistake again.”
This guy Kent is Trump and Maga through and through. He has made his point very clearly. Similarly but not so clearly JD Vance, when asked about the war, only said that he is sure the president is very capable (or words like that) … hardly full support.
Again what war? Only Congress can declare war. France has to import more than 99% of it’s oil. Again depending on others to survive and no say in the world oil production. The US is not dependent on SW Asia’s oil. An can easily lose, less than 1% it get oil from SW Asia… France can’t even afford escorting it oil requirements from that region.So france is dependent on Russia and Iran oil.
This is an empty argument - a very obviously empty argument. The last war congress declared was in 1941. Since then the US has been active and aggressive in many, many wars. Including this one. The very best this argument (let’s call it what it is - pathetically splitting hairs) can deliver is that we all use a different term than “war”. We could say “special defensive action” or some such pish. But its a war, that is what’s going on and that is by far the most simple and accurate description. It is a war. If you want to call it something else, perhaps call it Kevin, go ahead if it makes you happy. Everyone else will call it what it is - a war.
Like everyone else Australia is dependent on other countries (80%) of their oil requirements. Of course, all these small countries depend entirely on others to survive as a modern country. With out the main natural source would fall into a third world country.

I think Trump can make Iran look like Palestine. Give them something to do. Destroy their oil industry so they can rebuild their main source if income. Once it’s rebuilt, destroy it again. Just use it as a weapons test sight.
I think with the mood that Trump is in at the moment, that I would not want to be living in Iran at the moment, it would be worse than “Tower Hamlets”, our city of culture.
