I don’t think that they have the same materialistic ideals of the West. One thing that unites most Iranians is a deep seated passionate dislike of any US control of or interference in the affairs of their country. That reminds me of the scene from Godfather part 2, where Michael Corleone is in Cuba and talks to Hyman Roth about the suicide bomber encounter. Hearts & minds and all that.

Let me brake it down to all the military experts. If a Fleet is move from one operations area the whole fleet moves. There are different types of fleets in the US Navy. Two fleets are already in the operational area of Iran. These are Aircraft Carrier fleets. The fleet they are move to that operational area is a Fleet Marine Force. In short, this Fleet doesn’t have an Aircraft Carrier. The FMF is composed of Marine Expeditionary Forces (MEF) that provide units “on order” to specific fleet commands. Specific Marine units, such as those from the III Marine Expeditionary Force, frequently collaborate with and are assigned to operational control under numbered fleets like the U.S. 7th Fleet in the Indo-Pacific.

First of all we are not running out of oil in either this or the next generation.
We are using vastly more oil than the world is producing, however, it takes millions of years for the planet to make oil from vegetation.
We don’t just use oil and gas for fuel either, an awful lot of it is used in making chemicals, in particular, plastics, clothing and paints.
This is the reason why nearly everyone is moving to renewables for making electricity. China in particular is investing vast amounts in renewables and nuclear.
It shortens their supply chains and makes them less reliant upon others.
There have been a number of mass extinctions on Earth due to Climate Change, all of them long before humans arrived on the Planet.
None of them so far have been influenced by Humans, we are totally wrong to think that we can stop or start Climate change
We cannot influence or control the Sun, the provider of our energy.
We simply do not have the Intelligence, Power, or technology to do so.
Climate change is going to happen and humans will either fry or freeze.
Until very recently, in geological terms, humans have made no impact on the Planet.
It is not until the last 200 years that humans have made any impact by the amounts of Fossil Fuels we are burning and the numbers of humans which are doing so.
This is what so annoys me about the Millibands of this World,

The money they are wasting would be much better spent on insulating houses to reduce fuel bills and Flood Defences to help people.
Net Zero is unachievable , we should not be pampering to their fantasies.
As for the Media, all Countries manipulate it, we have D Notices here in the UK.
In the USA Trump is much more blatant, he is threatening those who do not present him in a good light and promote his lies as truth.

Enriched uranium is in Nuclear Fuel Rods.
Turning it into a Nuclear Bomb is a vastly different long term process.

Now retired, I was accepted by the UK Courts as an Expert Witness at a very early age, before I was 30.
An Expert in things which are prejudicial or injurious to health.
I have only lost 2 Cases in my working life.
I am covered in Scars, only 3% vision in one eye.

And what I’m saying is that the terminally stupid Trump has begun a war he can’t win. He is even unable to keep a short, narrow waterway open. His $800bn a year military is not up to the job. He was “aware” of the possible risk of the Straights of Hormuz but didn’t think it such a risk as to not start the war. Even though Iran had made it very clear that this would be their primary action. So not a risk, not something to be “aware” of, but a 100% certainty. Now, having started this war, now faced with Iran shutting the straights, now with his most expensive ever military not up to the job of keeping the straights open, now Trump starts pleading - please come help. Pathetic.

But, and this is funny, if the UK had greatly accelerated the move to renewable energy over the last 20 years then the country would not be so dependent on oil & gas. The country is rich in wind, wave and sun. And then the UK would logically have removed the link that prices electricity to gas prices - so electricity bills would not be increasing so much. And the threats from Trump’s dumb war in Iran would not be significant at all. But as that move was slowed down by people bleating about hating wind power and solar power and EV’s and heat pumps and the whole net zero gig, this means the UK is still fossil fuel dependent. And now in the proverbial do-da Ta for making me laugh.

If we had already spent the extra money we are going to be spending on oil on renewables then I suspect we would all be much better off surviving this oil shock.
Now what was it that they said about renewables? Too expensive? might need to rethink that.
