@pauline3 thanks but I’m not sure if you put yours out, it will be ok it will have everything else in with the hair. It’s when I comb them I put that out.

@LionQueen they seem to know that it’s time, :heart:ours were the same, but I’d rather take them instead of them passing slowly at home, it was very distressing for me and him with Bracken but there wasn’t any other way, it was too early for the vet and the emergency vet was busy.

That’s true, I will comb it out of him then, like you do, I just think it’s a great idea.:+1:

That’s what I do too, Logan. :+1:
Mine don’t moult, but when I clip them I save the clippings for the birds too. This breed’s clippings are not like normal dog hair, it’s more like grey cotton wool and very soft and springy and warm.
The birds will be looking for nesting sites any time soon now.

I used to do that too, loved to think of the little birds all snug and cosy in a doggy fur nest.

When it was Polly’s time I asked the vet to come here and do it, I wanted her passing to be as stress free as possible for her. Polly was very vet phobic as a result of treatment after a life threatening attack from another dog. She was 9 at the time of the attack, and my vet had to refer her to the Queen Mother hospital for Animals as her injuries were too severe for them to deal with. She was in hospital for 10 days, and it was a week before they were confident she would survive. They had to keep cutting the necrotic tissue back and couldn’t stitch it till healthy tissue started to grow. I was lucky to have her for another 6 years, but still miss her so much.

Same here, Maver-ick.
I always request a home visit for that sad event. They can then pass in their own home, in their own bed, much the same as most of us would want too.

I do that with cat fur too - the birds love it!

That’s great Mups :+1:

Yes it’s soft so they would like it. :+1:

I still miss ours even though it’s been years and years. It’s been 5 years since bracken passed away but I still think of him and the other 4.

I have just dropped my little man off at the vets, he’s also having a blood test, to see which anaesthetic works best for him,

I miss him already, still, it’s all for the best…his teeth look dreadful and so does that horrible growth on the lower lid of his eye.:+1::heartpulse:

He’ll be fine and will soon be back. I know it feels strange when they’re away at the vets all day. I’ve been through it a lot with ours, they’re inclined to get lumps on the body or the neck.
The breeder that we had berry from said that there’s no need to have them removed.

Indeed,Barry, he had 4 teeth out as well I believe, that collar is a darn nuisance, but as the vet said, if he doesn’t wear it, he could pull out all his handiwork,( stitches)…he’s still extremely disoriented, I guess he would be after the anaesthetic, you can see he’s been through a lot, …hope your little man is still continuing to recover.

They gave me eye drops for his eye, plus pain killers, :+1::+1:

He looks a bit sleepy but none the worse for his op. How long has he to wear that collar? I bet he doesn’t like it much. One of my cats once had to wear one and you could hear the howls of protest from the bottom of the drive!

good to know he is home safe in your care.

Pauline glad that it went well and hope that he gets on with the collar, ours didn’t like them at all.

Same here, Logan. It made mine off balance, probably because they must be echoey, so distort hearing. Mine also kept walking into door frames and chair legs as they werent used to allowing for extra width.
I prefer the inflatable Buster collars, much kinder, and they can eat/drink easier too, although it can depend on where the stitches are.
I dont know where Pauline’s dog was stitched?

Glad he’s home safely Pauline.

That’s good news especially with the dissolving stitches. We had this when Max had a cancer removed.

He tolerated it but that face…
