Yes @Mups , Alfie is ten now and is classed as an older dog, so had to have his bloods tested first before his anaesthetic last week…
My dog loves the vets they super friendly with him but then he is friendly with everyone
Well done, Muddy. Mungo’s a good boy.
So many dogs seem frightened, and its sad to see them like that.
Well done, Barry. Anaesthetics are not to be taken lightly as our dogs get older.
Hope Alfie’s doing well again now.
My dog is super friendly too @Muddy , and so are the vets, but he hasn’t been a well dog (poor breeding we think), and I don’t think he has ever been to the vet’s when they haven’t pushed a needle into him for one reason or another! He has had many biopsies on lumps that have appeared on him, plus several surgical procedures including three lots of dentistry and therefore quite a few anaesthetics, so he is absolutely terrified now and starts to whimper and shake like a leaf as soon as we turn into the car park, which of course makes us quite distressed too! Such a shame, he is such a fabulous happy little character usually and we absolutely love him to bits, but we fear we may not see him grow much older with his seemingly myriad of health problems…
I had a thought last night, not sure why David didn’t mention it, why not take this wart off of his eye, while he’s under the anaesthetic, I’ll be ringing of Monday to see if he can do that as well,…
He said what an incredibly fit dog he is…he can’t see him going anywhere soon,
Jack has always demanded attention from day one and he knows exactly how to get it.
Oh dear Barry I am sorry to hear that poor old chap I don’t blame him for being afraid .
I took mungo in last week he had a lump . The vet took two biopsies and he didn’t even flinch and it was in a tricky place too behind his elbow.
Unlike his owner who had to have a blood test last week and they practically had to lock the doors to stop me running away !
They may not want to do it, Pauline, as it is so close to his eye - but it never hurts to ask!
He can do it ST, as it’s not a cause for concern, i was going to leave it…he had it removed some years back, it grew back, he did say it could become infected same as the teeth, with an abscess,…I’m just wondering the cost…thanks for your concern.
Wednesday is fast approaching, would appreciate your prayers for Jack,…I’m starting to get very anxious…he’s my buddy, we’ve been together for such a long time, will ring today ,to see how much it will cost to have that growth removed on his eye, …if it’s really expensive,I will leave it, he did say it was ok, that it’s not bothering him, anyway, we shall see.
@pauline3 thinking of you and Jack for Wednesday if the vet said that his eye was alright I wouldn’t bother with it.
A little milestone today. We walk little Ozzie for his mum - she is disabled. So far we kept Ozzie on his lead - his the owner’s dog and we wouldn’t to take the risk of him doing a runner. Today we took him off the lead. He was just fine. The usual sniffing and back home.
Vet has just rang, it will cost over a grand to get both done, growth on eye and teeth cleaning…I’m having both done, I want my boy to be happy and comfortable…tomorrow is fast approaching…
@pauline3 that’s your decision and I hope it goes well with them both.
Thanks,Logan, hope your boys are doing well…a big hug to both,
Thank you @pauline3 and yes they’re doing well thanks. At the moment barley is moulting and it comes out in lumps, can see them on his body and I can just pull them, Berry doesn’t do that. I’ve been saving it for nesting material for the wild birds.
Logan, what a great idea saving it for nesting material,.
My hoover is full most days of Jacks hair, I could put that out for them, just tear the bag a bit, not until they start nesting though…which won’t be long, I must buy a bird box.the other one went rotten.
My Kodi was terrified of the vets. But on the morning of the day he was being put to sleep he went in no bother. Awwww rest in peace my gorgeous Kodi, miss him so.
