Pleased he is safely home where he can be loved and spoiled
Good news, Barry, thank you for the update - gentle hugs for Alfie!
Glad he is home safe again, Barry. It really is horrible when one is missing isn’t it.
I bet Oscar wondered where his friend had gone, too.
Did they ‘glue’ the outside skin? I have seen them use that instead of external stitches now.
Will they get the lump biopsied?
I’m sure you and Rosemary will rest easier now you’ve got him home again and I hope he will be well on the mend over the next few days.
Yes @Mups , they glued the outside skin, so much better than stitches or clips. They did ask about biopsying the lump, but she was pretty sure it was more than likely cancerous so we told her not to bother as we couldn’t see the point. Now, if they had a pill that could prevent it in the future then maybe it would be worth knowing for sure, but as they haven’t then we’ll just deal with a relapse if it happens…
Glad the procedures went well. Bet he was a bit grizzly after the anaesthetic. Holly would wobble about, giving little groans.
Barry, I am delighted that your little man is on the mend, you must be so relieved,
Jack has to go in for an OP soon, his teeth also need sorting out ,plus a growth has to be removed on his eye,…David will let me know next fri if he can do both at the same time, save me some money,
Took Mungo to the vet today he has a lump and the vet took a biopsy.
As I suspected it’s a lypona and the vet says just keep an eye on it .
I’m sure you do!
Oh yes you do.
The Power of the Dog - Rudyard Kipling
There is sorrow enough in the natural way
From men and women to fill our day;
And when we are certain of sorrow in store,
Why do we always arrange for more?
Brothers and sisters, I bid you beware
Of giving your heart to a dog to tear.
Buy a pup and your money will buy
Love unflinching that cannot lie
Perfect passion and worship fed
By a kick in the ribs or a pat on the head.
Nevertheless it is hardly fair
To risk your heart for a dog to tear.
When the fourteen years which Nature permits
Are closing in asthma, or tumour, or fits,
And the vet’s unspoken prescription runs
To lethal chambers or loaded guns,
Then you will find - it’s your own affair, -
But … you’ve given your heart to a dog to tear.
When the body that lived at your single will,
With its whimper of welcome, is stilled (how still!),
When the spirit that answered your every mood
Is gone - wherever it goes - for good,
You will discover how much you care,
And will give your heart to a dog to tear!
We’ve sorrow enough in the natural way,
When it comes to burying Christian clay.
Our loves are not given, but only lent,
At compound interest of cent per cent,
Though it is not always the case, I believe,
That the longer we’ve kept 'em, the more do we grieve;
For, when debts are payable, right or wrong,
A short-time loan is as bad as a long -
So why in - Heaven (before we are there)
Should we give our hearts to a dog to tear?
Good news Barry and Alfi
I took Jack to the vet today, regarding the growth on his eye and his teeth, David thinks the eye growth is a wart and seems to think it will be ok to leave it.
His teeth need a good clean, this will be his 3rd time, regarding his teeth, he had a lot of extractions last time, which I’m sure cost around £1,000 …this time he doesn’t think it will cost so much, he said around the £300 mark, he’s booked in for next Wednesday…he called him neurotic,…he was going loopy in the vets, he hates the vets, Bless…
Poor Jack…
How old is he? Do you have pet insurance?
That’s a shame about jack.
I can’t fault him being neurotic Pauline, our Alfie is just the same because every time he is taken there something awful is done to him… Good luck anyway for next Wednesday, hope it’s not too bad for the lad…
Yes, they don’t forget do they, David has operated on Jack before regarding his teeth, he is a kind man, but Jack doesn’t understand he needs dentistry done, this was the worst I’ve ever seen him, he was jumping up,and scratching the glass door to try and get out, we couldn’t get him on the examining table either, David and I had to get on our knees, so he could have a good look at his teeth, to be honest I’ll be glad when Wednesday comes and goes, plus Jack is nearly 14 so surgery will be risky, I’ve even forgotten if he is 14 or nearly 14, David has his records so I’ll ask on Wednesday…to me Jack is still my puppy, where as in reality he isn’t…I’ve got to deal with that…
Thanks for the good wishes,Barry.
At 14, do you have the pre-anaesthetic blood tests done for liver/kidney function first?
