Thanks @MargaretF , yes they do, but they are ready for new ones so we may get them high viz ones next time, they can be a struggle to see sometimes when they are chasing squirrels through the undergrowth!
There is a dog which passes our house before it is light in the mornings and he has a flashing light on his jacket - maybe that’s the answer!!
Yes I’ve seen those Margaret, but as their coats need replacing anyway…
Are they padded coats Barry.
Yes, @caricature ,they are waterproof with a fleece liner. As they are quite small dogs they probably lose heat quickly so thought that would be the better option.
I love the way dogs act when it snows. They come outside and it’s like “LOOK, LOOK NEW GROUND!!!”
Hello @lovemyboys I’ve always liked Newfies since I saw them around here 20 years ago when we had our first golden retriever. So it’s the second breed that I would have.
Here’s mine that aren’t here anymore.
And the 2 that we have now, barley on the left and berry.
A gorgeous pair of retrievers Carol…
They are beautiful, had me wondering what the collective noun of Goldens might be… perhaps a smile of Golden retrievers.
@Barry yours looks smart in their coats.
We don’t get snow every year so they get excited when they see it, especially berry.
@logan1 Ah, they are all so lovely to look at.
I bet you miss that handsome five pack! But am sure Barley and Berry keep you smiling every day, especially when they both have carrots in their mouths! Good shot!
They really are a happy-looking breed, aren’t they!
On that note, they deserve a happy-sounding collective name.
Maybe a cheer of goldies!
If you ever get the chance to have a Newfie - go for it!
Mungo is my third one. He came to us as a mess, both mentally and physically, but he’s my wonderful, lovable, drooling, easygoing, sometimes-intelligent and stubborn hephalump!
@lovemyboys thank you and yes Barley and Berry keep us on our toes, especially Barley he picks up on anything that we say or do, then Berry follows him. I’d love a Newfie but really stuck on Goldies. There was a couple up the road who adopted Newfies but they moved and I saw the woman once and she still has them.
Mungo must have been a challenge for you, I don’t think that we could do it. I thought about a goldie who needs a home but I think hubby couldn’t cope. Have to have them as puppies but the price is over £3000.0 berry was just over £2000.0 7 years ago.
This is my beloved Jack, right this minute, he’s as fit as a fiddle,
He’s a talker as you can see,…my constant companion, we love each other dearly.
Lovely dogs Tiff, I had my Jack as a puppy, I can’t believe he is 14, I will never get another dog, I have never bonded with a dog like Jack, we are so tuned into each other.
I suppose life moves on. My dog when I was in my teens and he was very affectionate and very biddable and a Collie. We walked everywhere, no lead but we lived on the farm. And he waited for me when I came home from school. But then I went to university so I wasn’t home very much. Then I took a job all over the world. My mother cared cared for the dog until he died.
Like you, I thought I would never have another. Decades later I was winding down for retirement and my dear wife suggested that we visit a rescue centre. The rest is history.
Mika was 15 when she died & Brandy was 16. I didn’t get another after.
Daughter with Brandy in around 1976.
Thank you Maver-rik.
