Hi LMB,

How’s those marvellous moggies of yours?!
Still ruling me with paws of iron - but I wouldn’y be without them!
Sorry to hear about your bad health.Your boys will you get better again that’s for sure.
This was my furry Mups as a youngster, with her bestest friend, Biff.
I think she was waiting for her chance to nick his bone!
Some of my Bedlingtons.
Three more of my old GSD’s.
Darn tootin’ they will - and have!
Never tire of seeing them.
Always meant ask Mups - what made you change from GSD’s to Bedlingtons?
Those Bedlington terriers are beyond cute , they look like hand knitted dogs
Hello LMB, thank you for your comments…
I loved my Shepherds beyond words LMB, and I always will, but I had a couple of bad experiences which forced me into another direction.
Once when I was across the fields with the Shepherds, my biggest boy collapsed and passed out. Scared me witless, as we were miles away from where I’d left the car and I couldn’t carry him back, as he was 44 kg. Luckily he came round after a few minutes and I was then able to get him straight to my vet.
Then when my last boy was ill, he also collapsed on the kitchen floor. I phoned the vet and they said to get him there straightaway, but once again I found I couldn’t lift him and get him into the car.
It really distressed me, I felt so inadequate being unable to carry him to get him the help he needed. Eventually we helped each other. He managed to stand up, wobbly as he was, and I helped him into the car. The vet carried him in for me when we got to the surgery.
They thought it was his heart, and he was eventually PTS.
After these two episodes, I began to think perhaps I should have smaller dogs now I am older, ones I can always carry in an emergency.
I had done a lot of research into different breeds and their health problems, and had already bought my Mups Beddie. I found I liked the breed, and soon got used to looking after that sort of coat, so after I lost my last big lad, I decided to have the Bedlingtons.
Very different nature, and a whole new learning curve, but they are great little dogs.
Mups was 16 a couple of weeks ago, and is very frail now.
Hah, I never really thought of them like that, but you’re right, they do!
They remind me of little lambs!
For Mups.
I suppose many here know that we have two dogs that we enjoy walking. Big Max and little Ozzie. They get along just comfortably well. Quite different characters. Ozzie is a sniffer - that’s their forte.
And the hair. Ozzie doesn’t shed. That’s a plus, Go for the Bedlington!
Yes Besoeker, thank you, but you’re advice is a little late.
I’ve had Beddies for 16 years now, and bred a few over the years, too.
Super little dogs aren’t they, and as you say, they don’t moult.
Appreciated thank Lovely Mups.
Collies were us. The Bedlington was new for me.
Thank you Mups for sharing that.
I can try imagine how you must have felt with your beloved GSD’s collapsing. But not want experience at all. You gave it your all. They knew.
We had couple different scares in the past, and that not a feeling want ever visit again.
I lucky have hubby help with lift when need. Also have lift harness. Helped when old boys need help rise when hubby not near. But never tried use for emergency. Hope never have to.
Obviously the beddies good for you! Your love for them shines through.
Big Happy Belated Birthday to Mups. 16 grand age. Give gentle hugs and just one more treat from me!
The old ones are so special. The way they look at you - oh man! Brings tears to eyes just think about!
Thanks again for answer.
Thank you for your lovely reply, LMB.
Lots of love and good health to you and your boys.
They look very smart too in their little jackets!
