Starmer is having a bad time

Hi

My view is very simple, no Policy has ever had any impact at all unless it has been implemented.

That is the basic problem the UK has, it is why we have been left behind by others and our living standards have fallen.

We achieve nothing on time, nobody takes a decision, there are endless what if meetings, how will this impact on this Policy?

We need to involve these people to seek their views before we progress.

Round and round we go, always the same, delay after delay, end date of Project put back, costs rise, mindset is that this is not a problem, just get more money off the Treasury.

A Culture of getting Consultants at huge costs to avoid taking a decision, it is disgusting, no other Country in Western Europe does this, they just get on with it and deliver the goods on time.

I absolutely hated this aspect of working for Government.

Burnham is right, it needs changing and now, not more talking about change.

I wish him well, our future depends on changing the system, the way we do things.

He was a very popular man in Manchester - i wonder what they think of him now…

Sometimes it may be too late, even for a messiah.

Swim whilst I agree with you wholeheartedly ref management consultants, Burnham is likely to delegate this decision-making to Chat Gpt , MS copilot or such. Labour have embraced the AI revolution as the holy grail of admin cutting. Be careful what you wish for is always sage advice!

Burnham has at most three years to convince enough people for him to win the next General Election.
Would you bet on him being PM four years from now?
I see him as an alienating leader rather than a unifying one.

My late father always said “show me a politician and I will show you a liar”, nothing has changed. In my opinion a politician is someone unable to do any job properly. Hence going into politics where mouths just flap for something to do

British politics is having a bad time.
Are there any other countries in the world, that change their PM as often as we do?

Because most politicians are just puppets and only follow an agenda I take what most of them say with a pinch of salt. I believe most newcomers to politics genuinely want to make a difference but get corrupted once they come into contact with the old school in parliament.
I still believe that my vote is important even though it won’t won’t make a scrap of difference to the outcome of either local or general elections.
So I’ll toddle off down to the polling station and put my cross against the one who comes close to my priorities which are…
(1) To reduce the population of England.
(2) Abandon Net Zero.
(3) Return manufacturing and industry to Great Britain, even if it’s none profitable at the start.
(4) Restrict all universities to the academics and provide colleges to provide hands on skills for the professions we lack.
(5) Scrap the minimum wage and diversity. People should be employed on their merits and paid what they are worth.
(6) Only British companies with headquarters in the UK allowed to trade in the UK.

Of course, no politician or party will deliver all those requests, but they are in order and just by accepting the top two or three will get my vote.

I wouldn’t vote for him, he’s just there to carry on Starmer’s evil work.

In the ten years before France was occupied in WW2 there were 10 prime ministers.
So that bodes well for the UK.

Thanks for that mixed bag. Actually, its a recipe for killing the UK economy completely.
Here’s mine
Focus on inward investment - whether foreign, business or government - especially that drives the sort of industries the UK has become good at. That is bio-sciences, innovative tech, analytics, very high end materials (such as graphene), media, finance, etc.
Support all UK based manufacturing - whether its making satellites or biscuits or cars - with grants (or tax cuts) for investments and innovations even if its foreign owned because any other option is self harming
Invest in UK infrastructure - roads, rail, electricity distribution, electric vehicle charging
Ensure protection for UK owned businesses from foreign take over (lets not repeat Cadbury’s) and curtail the freedoms & protections of private equity & venture capital businesses
Invest even more in green energy … where the technology is primarily UK based and built
Hike up basic wages to reflect business profitability and put a cap on executive pay
Introduce some form of wealth taxation to stop the movement of UK wealth to an increasingly few people … perhaps a land tax or asset tax (you can move abroad but you can’t take your physical assets with you - so you still get taxed by the UK)
And of course get the UK back into the EU - opens up a market that we’ve been gradually losing our share of for 5 years now
Yes, partly written to wind some people up … but better than the previous suggestions.

So do i … and I’ll give it to the end of the year before he’s another one who bites the dust.
Don’t ask me why I think that … it’s a premonition.

I think he would like to go further than that. All businesses buying / selling in the UK must be UK owned, he suggests. No more people allowed in. All businesses to be making things. Only burn coal & oil that the UK produces, no wind or solar. Lock the intellectuals in their ivory towers. Employ people for a pittance. Pol Pot would be happy. If OGF had his way we might re-number next year to year zero.

My first resolution stands as my biggest priority or you can expect water shortages, power cuts, and an overstretched NHS. The UK can no longer support itself both in food and resources.
The police and armed services could not restore order in the event of a major uprising or invasion from outside elements.

Net Zero is killing the UK. So called ‘sustainable green energy’ has done more to damage the environment more than all the coal and natural gas burning since time begun.
Explain how billions of tons of concrete that is used as foundations for thousands of wind turbines has not produced more CO2 and other pollutants in it’s manufacture than all the conventional power stations put together. And concrete will be there for the life of the planet.
I could go on about the madness of ‘sustainable green energy’ but it falls on some deaf ears.
Obviously, now they are built it would be foolish to close them down (those that are actually connected that is) and continue to see their life out, which will be 25 years or less. We can figure out how to dispose of the indestructible and toxic blades later.
My vote at the next general or local elections would go to support any MP or party who would include those two points in their manifesto.
