Starmer is having a bad time

Hi

Yet another mess of his own making.

The High Court have decided banning Palestine Action is unlawful.

There are over 2000 arrested since the ban last year.

The potential for a massive set of claims for damages.

On top of the other messes of his own making I just wish he would resign.

That would involve him growing a spine rather quickly!

Who would replace him though?

He’s probably not a bad bloke, just not cut out for this political circus.

Lammy, Reeves, Raynor?!!!? Talk about out of the frying pan into the fire! Is there anyone in the Labour party who are capable of running the country?

No yeast in the dough as I remember somebody saying on an LBC phone in.

I gather when he was a Prosecutor he was really good at his job, he earned his Sir title from one of his big cases. Pity he decided to leave a job he was respected in. Look at him now. :face_with_spiral_eyes:  :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

Mind you, if you think things are bad now, wait until the next election…

In a word, NO!

Yes, he is a bad bloke, he’s as corrupt as the rest of them, never trust a politician, they only serve themselves (and whoever’s got the inside information on them)

My late father said to me “show me a politician and I will show you a liar”. I never got him saying that.

Apparently Rox, Starmer decided not to prosecute Jimmy Savile at the time.
He has since claimed that it was not his decision, however, as he was the boss for criminal prosecutions it’s unlikely that didn’t have the final say…

Ohhh, Didn’t know about that with savile, but I was right about his law work earning him his Sir Title.

I think its fair to say that pretty much everyone who voted Labour and held out hope that a seemingly mature and experienced leadership team would provide a sensible left of centre government has been left feeling let down. All the u-turns, all the weak decision making and all the dubious policies are making all that hope seem very much misplaced. The decision to set palestinian action as terrorist organisation was very badly thought through. Not just because it was not grounded in facts but also because it ran counter to the mood in the country.
It does strike me that Starmer has two majors problems. First his that he lacks a strong delivery style and punch. Second is that he seems to be indecisive and swayed by the wrong factors. However I am yet to see evidence of real corruption. I doubt that there is any.

Is being totally incompetent not enough to just get rid of him(and the rest of the parasites in his government)?

Totally incompetent? In what way? In a Truss-crash-the-economy way? Or more a really-disappointing-not-made-much-difference way?
I actually wonder, given the performance of past UK governments and the performance of the governments of other countries, if its all doomed to be disappointing. Every country has growing national debt. Every country is struggling to fund services. Every country has a challenges with imm!gration. Every country has a growing old age demographic. Most countries have shrinking manufacturing and a reliance on imports. Affordable housing seems to be a universal issue.
Where the UK seems to be worse stems from a brutal 14 years of austerity - insufficient investment in infrastructure, cuts that mean simple things like potholes are not fixed, social care is in a poor state, etc.
So if its a bigger issue than a UK issue. but things have been made worse here, then why is there an expectation that any government will fix it better? Without some radical re-think on redistribution of wealth.

One of the things I dislike about Starmer are his many u-turns, I liked Margaret Thatcher not because I agreed with her all of the time, but because she was firm and stuck by her commitments.
A firm PM shouldn’t back down, they stand up for what they believe, if not they will lose the confidence required for people to support them. Nobody likes a wuss…Especially one who should be leading the country.
Be firm and there will be no challenges from your colleagues as is happening now to Starmer.
If he’s had to make so many u-turns it’s because he hasn’t thought things through to start with, and not realised the repercussions that would arise from so many bad decisions.
This alone has proved that the man doesn’t understand politics and is not qualified for the job he was elected to do.
I’m just surprised he’s lasted as long as he has, but now the decision has been overturned to allow 30 by-elections his power will be eroded away bit by bit.
Nobody has forgotten the fiasco displayed by the last tory party, and labour have made a proper pigs ear of their reign in government, so brace yourselves for the big change on it’s way when the reform party take the chair…

I absolutely agree with all you say here OGF. Due to Starmer’s inability to make sound, well considered decisions and stick by them our country is drifting rudderless in a very unsettled/ unsettling world.

Ah, the cost of colonialism … do we need it?
The UK pay for their defence but they pay no UK taxes.

I remember the invasion and the war to win it back broadcast everyday on TV … it was like the Empire Strikes Back.
I know , nipped off topic there … :face_with_hand_over_mouth:
