Its a good job Moats come for free on an island ![]()
Hi .Annie
The Russians are busy mapping our undersea cables and pipes.
Starmer wants to build drones, learning the lessons from the Ukraine.
Big, expensive Warships are a thing of the past, they have a life span of hours once located.
The problem is Starmer is not doingb things now, he has delayed and delayed the pland and his legacyis not only we do not have enouas many drones as we need, but also that he is leaving a shortfall of ÂŁBillionsto buy them.
He has also ignored the vital fact that OGF has pointed out, we need to build the factories and supply chains to build them here in the UK, Ideal places for new apprentces in CAD, Engineering and Electronics.
We need to be ready to fight the next war, not the last one.
I thought that the UK has quite a well developed and successful defense industry. There are factories that design and build pretty much all the kit we need now or in the future. Some are foreign owned, such as Thales, but nonetheless conduct both design and manufacturing work in the UK.
More, many of these UK based businesses sell their products or components overseas. This sector exported ÂŁ13bn last year - I think that can be called a success. And many already run apprenticeship programmes. I know people who went through such programmes and went on the get senior roles in industry.
What more are you hoping for?
itâs amazing isnât it that the Ukrainians can mass produce them at very little cost and we need to ruminate so much. I realise theirs are more basic and short range - but surely the technology doesnât require premium prices to have the same capability?
There used to be a big weapons factory up by Perry Barr in Birmingham, they would ship to all parts of the world. (both to our friends and enemies). Not sure what happened to that. I canât remember the name.
We seem to have posted the same sort of comment at the same time.
My suspicion is that some of these factories probably found it helpful to outsource for inputs to China in the last 30 years since I remember finding out about them. Now the cost might be to bring that manufacturing back here!
Iâd actually think that is not be the case. Apart from commercially available minor components the traditional approach is to use bespoke parts. This is, in part, what makes military kit so expensive. However, for drones this may need to be different. A key benefit of drones is that they are low cost. But to keep costs down this may mean a greater share of the parts will come from commercial sources - otherwise you risk producing expensive but small military planes. Which then means you donât want to use the mass use, disposable way drones are proving themselves successful. Which defeats the point of a shift to drones.
And thatâs why I hate him.
It started for me when I saw that picture of him and Rayner taking the knee in some office, probably in Westminster, and I thought âThereâs a couple of chancers, jumping on a band wagonâ.
And itâs been like that ever since.
Starmer, and the Labour party in general, doing nothing about âgrooming gangsâ, theyâre all in denial about what a lot of their âcore votersâ get up to, but like to pretend theyâre protecting children by clamping down on their access to the internet, Utter BS, itâs all about censorship and control of social media, to stop people communicating information that criticises the way theyâre destroying society with their left-wing ideology.
Hi
We could start with a sensible, well researched, response from you on this matter.

Itâs called âvirtue signallingâ and taking the high moral ground boomer, a common woke pastime.
You donât know what woke means, otherwise you wouldnât be using it in such a way.
Yes I do Helen, woke is a person who thinks that I donât know what âwokeâ meansâŠ
I loathe âwokeâ
The irony, we can all be considerate towards other people!
We donât need silly words,âŠ
Chilli, its hard agreeing without becoming part of a team!
Isnât the âwokeâ word a stab at doing irony without fully understanding how itâs done.
Best left alone.
Do âWokeâ folks do the ironing?
I âwokeâ up this morning feeling refreshedâŠ
Jethro switched on his computer this morning.
To see if StarMer and BurnEm were cuddling up.
The First display was prefixed âSMARTâ. Ar**.
He wasnât sure that was a Compliment,
To play safe.
He put on his Underwear. Shaved, Combed hair. Collar and Tie, And Polished his Shoes.
Then the computer crashed.

That is not my understanding of the term woke.
I had thought it meant:
Being aware and conscious of systemic injustices, especially injustices regarding race, and actively working towards to addressing, or dismantling or highlighting such systems.
A simple example was the statue of Colston in Bristol. On the one hand his riches paid for a good bit of the historic buildings in Bristol and his wealth put him in an influential role for the city. So a statue of him celebrated his significant contributions to the history of Bristol. Which would be fine except his wealth was gained from the slave trade and slave plantations. That seemed to be overlooked in the celebratory statue. That oversight surely needed to be corrected. The noting and correction of this oversight is being woke.
(Note - I am not saying the suitable correction was to push the statue into the harbour, I am simply noting that it is right to be clear & open about the source of his wealth, rather than ignore it and thus pretend that Colston was just some sort of saintly benefactor.)
And this is exactly why I hate âWokeââŠ
You canât right the wrongs of the past, they were different times then. What you can do is recognise and learn from the mistakes and put them right now, which we have done with the abolition of slavery. In fact Britain led the world in the abolition of slavery to which Colston may or may not have played a crucial part. History is never reported in itâs entirety and the woke are acting when they do not know the truth, and never will. This is why you canât try to make yourself feel better by altering history.
The people who assisted in this criminal act had obviously been put up to it by lefty teachers and probably someone more sinister who are hell bent in creating divisions in our out society and wiping out our history and heritage.
