So difficult to lose weight as I age

The sad fact is Bretrick is you have to eat less but there are certain foods you can eat any amount of ….
Lettuce and carrots are two of them .
Stop if you start to twitch your nose and hopping with both feet .

My first shop since making the decision I resisted buying those cream biscuits, I resisted buying the sugary soft drinks, I resisted buying the doughnuts.
I bought I small packet of M & Ms. :slightly_smiling_face:

Lettuce and carrots and celery, so boring though.
I do enjoy tomato and white onion together.

the M&Ms are called your ‘sin’ they are ok as long as you dont eat them all at once…lol…ration yourself one every so often would taste amazing…alledgedly…the exercise bike is better than nothing but if you really want to get into shape, consider a rowing machine [you can swim cant you ?] lol one of our friends on here used to do fifty lengths every morning]

Hi Bretrick. Just popping in to say I have just weighed in and I have lost 4lbs in the last week mainly due to cutting right down on bread, no biscuits, cake, chocolate, etc. Had a salt craving yesterday so had a bag of C & O crisps instead of lunch but they were low fat and I enjoyed them.

Am hopefully starting at slimming group next week. How are you doing?

Well done you, RoseRed.
I am into my third day. On my last shop I resisted the cream biscuits, the sugary soft drinks, the doughnuts.
I did however buy a packet of M&Ms. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:
Not going to weigh myself until Monday.

Yes, I can swim but last time I done it, it was not easy.
I broke my ankle 18 months ago and done aqua? Therapy.
Could not complete one lap of a 25m pool.

a friend of mine in India, had let herself go after giving birth and five years down the line was shocked when she couldnt get into her pants, so she joined a gym club, and all these girl of various ages exercise together, the exercises vary but the session always end with a dance, andno its not ballroom, so theres another string to your bow put some music on and work your bits…and theres some great music out there…

I suppose I could relive 3 decades ago when I used to move to this groove in the back bar of the Fremantle Hotel on a Sunday night.

there you go then you have a target, i bet if you checked there will be an aqua slimming class where they exercise in the pool, ok it will likely be older folk, but again that gives you impetous, nothing you try will be easy, but after a month you would begin to feel the benefits

The way I am at the moment I reckon my physiological age might be at least 10 - 15 older than I actually am.

then you really do need to start something soon, because there comes a time when you cant. it wont be easy pal, but get it right in your head, dont start withthe mambo…lol… perhaps a waltz for the first few weeks…lol… you just have to get the muscles moving get them out of their comfort zone.

Here I am, 2 weeks after starting my journey to lose weight.
Here is my weight when I started.

Here is my weight today.

Progress for sure. But I am not getting excited.
I have achieved this modest loss purely through diet. No McDonalds Breakfast, no cream biscuits, no doughnuts, no sugary soft drinks, no, no, no.
Replaced with porridge, soda water, low fat milk, and plenty of water.
Not exercising as yet. Might not exercise.
Maybe I will get an exercise bike down the track. I will see how difficult it will be to continue to lose weight.

Get a real bike .
Exercise bikes always end up as clothes racks .

I hear you. I did have one and that is exactly what happened.
It sat there, in full view everyday, unused.

when your alone, put some rock music on and give it lalldy, move like Jagger rather than Astair do your Gene Kelly dancin in the rain, thats exercise enough and the chairs handy…lol… your doing well if you keep losing that much every week you might dissapear by xmas…lol
