As I have explained…quite a few times to you…I have no intention of explaining, why I think he’s a hero…or supply you with any info…on Prince Phillip.
OK. Not your most helpful of replies TBH.
Pauline is correct. He is a hero. Below is C&P from ‘The Guardian’

A remarkable act of heroism by Prince Philip that saved scores of lives during the Second World War has been revealed after 60 years by a grateful fellow veteran.
Harry Hargreaves, now 85, has spoken for the first time of how quick thinking by the future Duke of Edinburgh, then a first lieutenant in the Royal Navy, foiled a Luftwaffe bomber which looked certain to destroy their ship during the Allied invasion of Sicily in 1943.
The story came to light among tens of thousands pouring into a BBCi website called ‘People’s War’, which invites the public to share their experiences. Launched in June, it is now attracting 20 contributions an hour from the surviving 350,000 veterans of the conflict
It may have been quick thinking but it was not exactly heroism
he did what officiers are supposed to do.
Making a decoy raft to distract bombers must have been standard naval evasive procedure .
Think it’s fair to say that every single person who put themselves at risk during ww2 for the common good (and indeed many other situations, but we’re focusing on ww2) could be described as a hero.
Thus the DoE was a hero but seemingly no more so than several million others.
If you want something of merit that he has achieved the Duke of Edinburgh award programme which has been running since 1956 is one such achievement. Focusing young people on overcoming challenges, developing life skills and teamwork.
I honestly don’t know what you’re all arguing about. Seems to be very repetitive and just arguing about the fact that we all have different opinions about people in the public eye.
In the meantime his hospital stay has been extended into next week. So it must be very serious this time.
Annie, I agree. We all like or dislike people in the news for reasons of our own. I may focus on a person’s humanitarian contributions, or his/her nastiness to others in their circles. All in perception of what you see in others, good or bad.
I happen to wish him all the best in a good recovery.
I sincerely hope he makes it to one hundred
Charles visits Phillip in hospital
He is the first member of the royal family to visit Philip during the Duke’s four-night stay in hospital.
It is understood the Prince travelled from his home in Highgrove, Gloucestershire, to the hospital in central London, a journey of around 100 miles.
It is thought Charles had not seen his father since before Christmas because of the nationwide coronavirus restrictions, with the Duke staying at Windsor Castle.
This is great news. It means that we can all move on from the lockdown restrictions and visit sick relatives in hospital. Will be a relief for so many families.

Aye, right!
Precedent’s been set and presumably all fine with the dibble. Thay can’t stop nor prosecute anyone else who wants to go a fair old distance and enter a hospital now.
Indeed. A logical suggestion, bearing in mind that we Brits are all subject to the same laws…
aren’t we?
We are indeed. Imagine if you had a sick relative in the hospital in Barnard Castle. You could visit at your leisure.
Oh, I don’t think that’s at all likely.
After all we live nowhere near Barnard Castle.
Listen! I was refused a visit to hospital to say goodbye to my wife when she was dying; and this had nothing to do with Covid. Yet an hour later, after she had died, I received a phone call saying I could now visit to ‘say my goodbyes’.
Callous and cold hearted these miserable little lickspittles denied me comforting my wife in the last hour of her life, (after three and a half years of caring for her), yet if I had ‘Prince’ in front of my name, doors would have been open to me.
This feudal society, where the rich and privileged have sway over the hoi polloi sucks in the extreme.
The royal couple, who have an raised a totally dysfunctional family with an unbelievable sense of entitlement, and who have sucked and snuffled, (from the taxpayer), their way through a very privileged life now rub our noses in it once again.
I have nothing but contempt for the whole kit and caboodle of them.
TOTALLY agree. The whole rotten lot together with the whole of The Establishment should be “Romanov-ed”.
Nowt to do with Royalty, but I think that’s disgusting.
If that had happened to me, I’d have raised an official complaint and, assuming that was ignored, I’d publicise it.
As it was not connected to Covid, I can think of no possible excuse for their behaviour.
