Pauline, Wealth and Power gives you choice that a poorer person doesn’t always have.
Art,I don’t think I ever said it didn’t…but it doesn’t make you exempt from what life throws at you.
In other words, when your time is up it’s up…no matter what privilege, wealth or power you have.
Money gives you choice, but it does not necessarily give you happiness…
I am happy that I am poor…I would hate to be rich with money.
Private hospitals are pretty pricey
A five day stay at the King Edward for ( eg a hip replacement )
For up to five days is £14,150.
It better to be miserable in comfort though
I must admit, I live in comfort,Muddy…
I’ve never really known what it’s like to live in “ real poverty”…
Nor have you lived in complete wealth.
I wouldn’t want too, either!..I doubt you live like the Royals as well.( don’t have that much wealth)
Thank “ God” I wasn’t born into wealth, would be pretty hard,I would imagine to give it up.plus it can change you as a person.
But then to some people, money is their life,;-)…different strokes for different folks…never been a money chaser…
What you’ve never had…you never miss…
Based on what evidence? Sounding a bit judgemental there Pauline.
So you’re assuming (judging) that it must be hard to live with “wealth”, based on what evidence other than your imagination.
Judgemental…
I said I doubt you have either?..that is not judgemental imo…
It is very hard to live with wealth and fame…imagination, now whose judging,
Well, if you haven’t seen what wealth and fame has done to some people, then I rest my case…or should that be,my imagination,:
Now, maybe you have proof that money/ fame doesn’t change/ affect
a person?
Of course it can and does…my opinion.
Dunno. Not me, that’s for sure.
Have you got proof that living in poverty " doesn’t change/ affect a person?"
Perhaps you’d like to guesstimate the life expectancies of those with wealth compared to those who don’t have wealth.
I don’t think I mentioned living in poverty, real poverty ,can affect a person, I believe it can.
Nope, no guessing about life expectancies ,with or without wealth…
Money, no money…can and does change people…my opinion.
Whatever one’s financial situation is will have an effect on one’s life experiences and views. Everyone is thus a “hero” for coping with their little lot in life.
The thing is that, for people such as Philip, due to their heritage they won’t have doors closed to them when they want to select what family they marry into. Just about everyone else will never get a look in though.
I give up…you are just focused on what their heritage has brought them…then who he married…its just your opinion,Jack … in other words, as is mine,…do you honestly think they care about our opinions…
Prince Philip, is a “ hero” in my eyes…I don’t see him with your eyes…
I see him with my own!..I wish him a speedy recovery and a reuniting with his beloved wife…
Bit judgemental there;-)
How do you know? I’ve not expressed an opinion and nor have you asked for one.
Me too.
Seeing that prior to lockdown they had been living miles apart they can’t be that worried about seeing each other .
Anyway Pauline you still have to tell us what makes him a hero ?
Muddy, I don’t have to tell you…your words…anything about why I have called Prince Philip a “ hero”…
Quite right. You don’t “have to”, but it would be nice to hear about what he’s done that has led you to adjudicate him as a hero as opposed to a normal person.
Again…I don’t have to justify me calling him a hero, to you…research him, you may learn something, I don’t mean all the negative either.
Not asking you to justify. Googling him would help me make a view based on what I find. You call him a hero, which is fine, but it would be nice if you could explain what info you’ve based that judgement call on.
It’s not a debate, nor a question designed to trip you up. Am genuinely interested on how you’ve come to your conclusion.
