Apart from that, the last time my wife complained about the treatment she had in the same ward, not having the opportunity to wash, meals left out of her reach, no help getting to the commode, despite her being bed bound was met with downright lies and altering her medical records, retrospectively, while publicly shedding crocodile tears, (I kid you not they actually cried during one interview), nothing was done.
After a twelve month of investigation we finally gave up as all we were getting was the run around.
Normal everyday folks, go about their business whatever the scenario, it is difficult to know who to complain to.

I agree with everything you said.Why we plebs should be concerned about the health and welfare of the royals is a mystery to me.
The royal family is perhaps the only one in the UK that people don’t need to search on ancestry.co.uk to trace it’s historical members and events surrounding their lives. In that sense, it serves a purpose of mapping a continuity.
As for the health and welfare of the royals, apart from “no man is an island” and all that, there’s no particular reason to be more concerned than anyone else. However, as a nation, we tend to focus feelings and mourn the loss of the passing of “common permanences” in our lives (even on here we often have memorial threads for actors, musicians etc).
It would seem a shame to throw away an obvious nostalgic historical thread. However, how much we feel it appropriate to pay/subsidise it is obviously up for debate. If the majority view is that it is worth keeping, then it does seem fair to contribute to it’s upkeep if needs be But perhaps not quite so much, nor for those outside a minimal central kernel.
I have just waded through 19 pages of this topic. I am NOT a royalist, but I didn’t realise there is so many nasty people on here. I thought it was only TAT. Is there anyone on here stupid enough to want to be in Liz and Phil’s position? I certainly wouldn’t. To have your whole life made public and with little control over your life. To receive the vitriol that Harry & Megan have received for wanting out!

JBR, I am beyond angry; my faith in what I saw as a national gem has left me disillusioned and broken with a feeling bordering on hatred, something that appals me.
I’m sure it will ease with time - and it’s my cross to bear, but I do not have and will not have any time for the cosseted few that flout the covid regulations, while stories like mine are reported on a daily basis - because believe me, there are far worse cases than mine.

Ciderman I suppose it must be a shock sitting there in beautiful Hawkes Bay drinking wine to learn that not everyone thinks the same as yourself . There must be thousands nay millions of people who would have loved to live the life that ‘Liz and Phil’live . A life without the stress and worry of all the major things in life . Yes they have had a few family problems who hasn’t ? They have never had the really wearing stressful problems of life . Paying for somewhere to live for a start . Paying a lifetime for a mean little box . Unlike Phil and Liz - let’s be chummy - who through absolutely no effort of their own have multiple luxurious residences to choose from and all bills paid by the tax payer . Paying the usual things in life utility bills food, transportation to work . Work itself a boring grind for many people who are very happy to retire from it. Their whole life is not made public at all their finances are shady and hidden they live in residences that are guarded and distance they have more privacy than most people have they don’t have to crush into a tube train , or use public transport . They are shielded form annoying neighbours .They know nothing of the stresses of ordinary people because they live in a sheltered bubble.
They have far more control over their lives than most people have .
They don’t have to do what they do .
The queen didn’t need to be Queen her arrogant spoiled sister would have jumped at the job .
Phil didn’t need to marry Liz he could have married another girl and lived the quite life of a naval officer the career he allegedly loved so much . Get away ,far better to marry one of the richest girls in the world and have an life he would never had had travelling and meeting the sort of people he has met ( all buckshee and first class ) and treated with a deference he has done absolutely nothing to deserve .Not only that he was paid and enormous salary to do so .
He’s still paid an enormous salary £395k pa for doing SFA

They could have retired at any time and Charles would have taken over and who knows might have done alright .
They do what they want to when they want to. People accommodate themselves to this schedule .The Queen spends a considerable time going to the races to see her horses run . royal engagements never clash with certain race meetings .
They also have a lengthy six weeks holiday each year from ‘work’ as well as Christmas and other breaks .
Relaxing in their highland retreat and at other times when they like to shoot a few birds or deer for entertainment.
Phil has throughout his long life indulged his love for expensive sports / polo / carriage driving / flying /yachting well it help to pass the time between having to meet boring plebs .
When he does meet the plebs he shows his distain by being rude ( blunt ) condescending and impatience ( doesn’t tolerate fools ) the very fools who have supported him for his very long life .
So because people don’t agree with this doest make them nasty people It makes that people who don’t look at royalty through soppy rose coloured glasses .
As for H&M it seems to me that most of the vitriol is coming form royalists who think they have been disrespectful to the Queen rather than anyone else .
Personally I don’t care what they do but I think they should have paid for their own wedding as most other couples do . Or at least the mega rich royals could have stumped up .
What would they do without the gushing and gullible British taxpayer ?

An arrogant man very aware of his own position and who liked lording it over the Plebs.
He was not faithful to the Queen, he had a number of sexual partners, one, long term.
He is however a husband, father and Grandfather and his death will be painful to the family.

Hello PooBear I was faced with a very similar situation .10mths ago I lost my beloved husband from a progressive illness . I had to fight for information & treatment all the way . I was allowed visits however when he slipped away I wasn’t there to say goodbye. It still hurts.
My heart goes out to you .
