Platinum Jubilee

Somebody should have told the post office that it is a bank holiday today.
They tried to deliver a parcel whilst I was out yesterday, so left a note telling me to collect it at the missed deliveries office today. I went this morning, after having checked on the internet that they would be open, and it clearly stated that they would be open between 9 and 12 am. Maybe they didn’t tell the staff as there were no lights on & the door was locked at 9.30.

I don’t like the town I live in but I plan on nipping down there this afternoon to look at the efforts some people have done to try make it special for the Jubilee. I don’t want them to think their efforts have been wasted, the people who did this are trying to make Batley a positive place instead of all the negativity that usually goes down there.

My town is heavily muslim populated and it is full of shops owned by Muslims such as take aways, pounds shops, ice cream parlour, chicken shops, Indian clothes shop etc.
A friend of mine when into town yesterday and she posted on facebook none of the muslim shops have put buntins or anything up, only the shops own by non muslim.

Why can’t we come together for at least one celebration, the divide is just so obvious.

Sorry, back on topic.

Yes I’m going to celebrate our beautiful queens 70 years on the throne. It seems I’m in the minority here as I really do love the queen.

Hi

What fun today on the ward.

Nurses with Union Flags stuck in their hair, a special lunch menu and red, white and blue napkins.

It is going down rather well.

Waste of NHS money. Really.

Saw the Red Arrows but nothing else of the formation. Only five, right out to sea.

You may be wrong, a change from normal hospital routine often gives sick people something to smile about.

I may be — but certainly in THIS case I’m not, at least in my opinion. Every penny spent on this nonsense is a waste of tax payers money.

There seems to be a desperate shortage of bunting. Even Poundland are sold out. I tried most of the Supermarkets and card shops, but nothing at all. The Daily Express website have a PDF download, where you can print some off free. So that’s what one will have to do. One is not a Happy Royal Bunny!! :rage: :weary:

If you had mentioned it earlier, John, I would have die cut some for you!

Thanks Tabby. I did’nt expect such a faff trying to get some. Do you think Todger has bought up all the stock, just to make us all suffer!?? :stuck_out_tongue:  :smirk:

Re the future of the monarchy, I sincerely hope matching handbags and hats don’t catch on.

Fantastic day so far.

God Save the Queen !

I only saw them on the news, Jazzi, but aren’t they brilliant.
Loved it when they released all that red/white and blue.
Their flying - expecially when they formed that number 70 was truly brill. :+1:

That was 15 Tornadoes, doing the 70 shape. Didn’t even get to see them! But was so pleased the Arrows went above me and the other waiting people.

Well if that’s what people, taxpayers, want to do that that’s their choice. We are having a party with all the bells and whistles. It’s a social occasion. Maybe the Art isn’t sociable.
