…and mine too!
Flew the done outside my garden today to have a look at the transformer on the next power pole.
Flew over the top of the wires to have a look at the other side.
Again not particularly interested in the photos more interested in learning some flying skills. These drones are so tiny you can hardly see them even when you know roughly where they are.
They are a lot of fun though. The camera seems quite good, the video is 4K and these are 12Mp photos but the quality can be up to 48Mp Just a matter of changing a selection on the controller.
You can rotate the camera through 90° to take video vertically in the style so beloved of TicTok and YouTube shorts.
It came with three batteries each of which is supposed to last about 30 minutes flying time.
Looks like a right bloody muddle. Mr Bruce !!
Aw, it’s pretty simple, three wires in, four wires out, Star connection.
Believe it or not, I am a qualified electrical engineer. My point was the shambles around the transformer.
I know.
For me it was mostly industrial power electronics - paper mills, steel mills, cement works etc…
Bruce your photos are electrifying
It certainly sets a very high standard.
well I been and done it,bougght a new lens cost £480 here in the uk new. And that is without the filter as shown below worth £40
So cost me£260 + impot duty
What photos have you in mind with this Lens @realspeed ? I know very little about lenses, so will this one take wild life photography? some shot of maybe Deer , Foxes,Buzzards ,Owls, Badgers. … I would love to see some photos of them , …
Eliza
take a look at the F stop ie f1;4. That may mean nothing to you but actually it will allow more light onto the sensor. Consequently in darker situation such as inside of a building will show up brighter . the 25mm in micro thirds cameras ,like mine, is equivilant to 50 mm in a full frame camera. this is as close in photographic terms to what the human eye sees. also it will focus quicker than say a lens @ f4.5.
which len for which animal depends on how far away they are. I have managed to photograph a peregrine falcon in a 125mph dive. thia at a bird of prey centre.
Not sure about that. The big aperture will mean a faster picture, the camera works quicker, and therefore less chance of motion blur. Also lower ISO.
I really depends on how dated your focusing system is. Modern cameras have fast and accurate autofocus. May I suggest the 25mm f/1.7 would be plenty fast enough.
Because the bird is some distance from the camera, it wouldn’t be a problem for the world’s slowest lens. Unlike close up human blinking, at a similar speed, is likely to cause motion blur for a slow camera/lens. However you’d be unlucky the capture a human blink.
Congratulations on the new lens, a lovely thing to own, a beautiful lump of glass.
Went for a bit of a drive yesterday to look at some old haunts.
The first two photos are a bomb shelter. Funnily enough built on top of a hill
It is now right next to an Optus Tower, the subject of a major breakdown recently.
The way has been barred to traffic, this barrier was not there last time I visited.
The old coal fired power station where I used to work has been replaced by two gas turbine power stations… The newer closer one is designed to also work on hydrogen (yeah, right!)
They don’t have the facilities we had, they have filled in the old swimming pool, demolished the squash and tennis courts and abandoned the caravan park. Very sad.
Great photos Bruce, what was the Breakdown?
Optus have two failures of the 000 service on their network one was very widespread and they reckon three people died because of it and there was a local one involving that tower - no one died.
The thing I don’t understand is that triple-0 calls can be made on any network whether you are a subscriber or not.
Sorry to hear of those deaths due to the failure Bruce, but these things happen and I suspect as communications get more complex it will probably happen more often.
Same here also, an emergency number (999) will go through using any available network.
Although we have the same sort of towers, they sometimes piggy back dishes and antennas on to Electricity pylons.
I have noticed that they do that here on top of high voltage transmission pylons too. What is not allowed is mast sharing (so that there is proper competition). When Vodaphone started here they wanted to use Telstra masts and took the ACCC to court but the court ruled that the law was the law and Vodaphone had to set up a completely separate network. Presumably they are not allowed to use the same pylon.
Mind you it is very frustrating to be camped in the bush near a mast and it does not belong to the company you are with!
