It grows like a weed.
The farmers can use their combine harvester for harvesting it.
The supermarkets call it vegetable oil and everybody buys it for frying chips.

I am sure I read somewhere that the edible rapeseed/canola was a lucky hybrid of rapeseed and cabbage (something like that)
Also that Canola is a combination of Canada Oil (again, or something like that)
Thanks, Graham!
who luves ya!!
I field of oilseed rape in Germany. It’s just called ‘Raps’ there I think but I couldn’t hear any rapping coming from it.
I don’t trust foxes
OGF will likely recognise this scene. It’s the approach to the Humber Bridge. The photo was taken some years back, late afternoon travelling from Withernsea to Doncaster. Saw the opportunity for the photo and took it through the car windscreen (Mrs mart driving)…
Great photo Mart.
It’s a section of the A 63 called the ‘Clive Sullivan Way’ whoever he was…
Actually…
Clive Anthony Sullivan MBE was a Welsh rugby league footballer. A Great Britain and Wales international winger, he played for Hull FC and Hull Kingston Rovers in his career, winning Challenge Cup medals with both clubs, and also played for Oldham and Doncaster. Wikipedia
Born: 9 April 1943, Splott, Cardiff
Died: 8 October 1985 (age 42 years), Kingston upon Hull
Spouse: Rosalyn Sullivan (m. 1966–1985)
I always fancied riding a bike across the bridge but that would have been difficult to plan. We didn’t drive over it either. That road goes under the approach to it as I remember? A fair journey from Withernsea to Doncaster.
We’d always drive to Withernsea for a day to see Mrs mart’s sister. My first trip to Withernsea was many ears earlier though. I’d be around 24 when I went to Sutton-on-Hull to stay with my brother who was in the RAF and stationed nearby
I’ve cycled over the bridge twice Mart, once when I did a charity bike ride with the lads from work, Scun thorpe to Hull marina and back 46 miles (Ill try and find the photo of the motley crew) and once from home along the A63 over the bridge and home via A18 Scun Thorpe to Doncaster. 76 miles. Was a while ago though…
I once did 54 miles from Blackwater (Hampshire) to Southsea and another local round circuit of 48 miles (not so much fun). There’s a neighbour of ours that used to do the London to Brighton ride. He has really bad arthritis now. Sad to see a fit man go down.
