Thanks Rose, yes, Mrs Fox’s eyes water and she starts sneezing whenever we even drive past one of those fields. Thankfully, all the flowers have died down now.
I just realised that is canola I vaguely remember it being called rapeseed in the Kent countryside.
Australia is the second largest exporter of it after Canada (who named it Canola when they started growing it during the war). It’s a handy winter crop here.
Seems to be very popular with farmers for the last 10 years or so Bruce. They must be able to make more money than with traditional crops.

What is oil seed rape used for?
AI Overview
Oilseed rape, also known as rapeseed or canola, is primarily used for its oil, which is a key ingredient in various foods, and also for animal feed and biodiesel. The seeds are crushed to extract the oil, and the remaining residue (rapeseed meal) is used in animal feed.
When I was a boy nearly all of the fields were full of Wheat and Barley. We used to help the farmer at harvest time stacking all the sheaves into little houses to dry out. Very handy if you got caught out in the rain…
Yes, rape seed. I should have known that - my dad was a farmer. Well, the dog knew what it was.
Today is …Go hug a tree day…
So what’s stopping you…? Go and hug one…
Or you can hug a Yorkshire bloke if you’d rather…
Och the noo - I’m just a grumpy old Scotsman…(
