Pets In The Work Place

Danny could you take other peoples dogs out ?
Many people work and might like to have their dogs walked .

I thought about it, but I would get too attached. But I have considered it. :grinning: :grinning:

I would love to be able to take my Loki to work with me. I think itā€™s a lovely idea. When we both worked, before John retired I used to hate leaving my beloved Kodi alone whilst we worked (RIP Kodi)

Pets in care homes has been massive, the residents (many anyway) find them really therapeutic

That sounds really interesting Muddy, what does it involve? Temperament, I assume, for one thing?

Yes you just make sure the dog is well behaved friendly and dosent mind being touched in any way ,doesnā€™t mind loud noises and doesnā€™t jump up ā€¦
All the dogs I have seen have been brilliant .

My brother used to take his dog to work, in fact he got her through work, as another worker owned her & said she needed another home, because she kept running away. After taking her to show his wife, my sis-in-law, they agreed to have her, Tara was with them for many years. She never ran away while they had her. Lovely dog.

Tara, with my daughter.

Danny, we take another dog for an elderly lady. She he is very attached to her dog but she isnā€™t able to walk him so we do it for her.

Thatā€™s good. We had a PAT dog for ours. But then we moved house soon afterwards. Maybe we should look into that again.

I think that is amazing! So what happens after that - do you take them into therapy situations or give them to their handlers to do that?

Oh Danny, I hope you can manage to get more suitable living accommodation soon - you would be the perfect dog owner, youā€™re such an outdoorsy person. I can just see you trekking with your camera and your dog at your side. He would be one lucky dog!

Thank you for that. Donā€™t worry Iā€™m looking for a more rural place already. Donā€™t like being in the city with all these people. Makes me nervous.

There is National Take Your Dog to Work Day here too.
Itā€™s around 24th June I believe.

As for dogs visiting old folks homes, I used to sometimes take one of my German Shepherds in to the home where I worked. He was the gentlest, calmest dog ever, and although one or two oldies were nervous because of his size, others loved my big woollie bear.
We had one particular retired farming lady, and she so missed her animals, and was always pleased to see him.
This was my beautiful gentle boy. I bred him myself.
