Wow … hope you have a wonderful relaxing time.
Enjoy your trip Jess, my daughter is away back to Corfu next month with her girlfriends, it looks lovely from the photos she sent last year.
Yes Jess we had a good lunch and a lot of laughs.
Good morning Each,a mild dullish one here with more rain forecast for later…Last Evening around 7pm I sat outside after dinner as the sun came out and it became very warm after being wet and cold all day…Jeeze!..this is the weirdest Summer weatherwise I can ever recall…I’ve been drowning the weeds in the Garden with boiling water this morn…seems to be working so far.
Daughter coming after She has had Her vit’b12 injection, but I’m
not in the mood for shopping or going out to lunch, arthritic joints still swollen so no walking today again…have a good one Folks,x
Aftnoon … just polished off breakfast …yes, I got up very late as I was stuck into a book and reading through the night.
It’s dull and rainy here but still feels sticky and humid. Horrible in fact.
Hope your arthritic joints get better soon May … it’s painful and depressing when they play up isn’t it.
Afternoon, Not too bad here just the odd shower, a bit cooler too so that’s better for me. Just the usual morning, Pool, Latte at the front (in the car) and Tesco for a few bits n bobs on the way home. Caught up with house work and mostly had a quiet afternoon with my book.
For those who don’t know what the front is, It’s usually empty early on, and I sit in the car and drink my latte, love it when the ocean’s wild in the late Autumn and Winter.
I can see why you love it so much … I bet it helps clear the mind and unwind.
It does Morty, I’ve been drawn to the ocean all my life. I think it comes from my early years when we lived out on the Western Isles, mum used to leave me outside in my pram for fresh air and the sound of the ocean was always present. She told me when she couldn’t settle me down for the night she opened the window a wee bit to let the sound of the ocean in and I went to sleep.
Daft eh
Even now if I can’t sleep I make a latte and sit outside at the bench just listening.
Sea-Fever
by
John Masefield
I must go down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky,
And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by,
And the wheel’s kick and the wind’s song and the white sail’s shaking,
And a grey mist on the sea’s face, and a gray dawn breaking.
I must go down to the seas again, for the call of the running tide
Is a wild call and a clear call that may not be denied;
And all I ask is a windy day with the white clouds flying,
And the flung spray and the blown spume, and the sea-gulls crying.
I must go down to the seas again, to the vagrant gypsy life,
To the gull’s way and the whale’s way where the wind’s like a whetted knife;
And all I ask is a merry yarn from a laughing fellow-rover
And quiet sleep and a sweet dream when the long trick’s over.
Remember learning this poem at School, unfortunately I don’t live anywhere near the sea,
Good Morning Folks, feeling back to normal again so off for a walk to the C0-OP for veg to make soup,I’m also in the mood for a BLT sandwich for lunch later…see Ye A’ later,x
Morning All, I kind of know that poem May, but I don’t know where from
It’s dry and cool here today, suits me fine I had my swim and headed over to The Front with my latte, but didn’t stay in the car, the tide was way out so I went up to the Castle end of the beach and sat on a rock to drink it. Beach was deserted so I enjoyed the peace, most of the tourists are heading home for the English schools going back
only a few left now.
No plans for the afternoon, just take it as it comes.
@May … nice poem . It made me think of roaring seas and crashing waves and ancient mariners, Mr M’s ancestors were mariners.
@Rox …It’s good to hear sounding more like your chirpy self. I bet deep down you’ll miss all those noxious noisy tourists
Me? I’m doing as little as possible as it’s chucking it down here and the M6 must be out as the roads are chock a block with diverted traffic. Too busy out there by far.
Good Afternoon Folks, quite a windy chilly one here,so it’ll soon be time for Winter woolies and Vit’ D supplements again…been out destroying the weeds again with boiling water, and see My back garden has lots of fallen leaves, and the blueberries have gone mushy,so glad I picked most of them to freeze…Hope You are All well.x
Afternoon, Beautiful morning so I got more washing out on the ropes, they dried just in time a few minutes later the rain started, good timing.
Spent most of the afternoon watching Ridley, catching up with my recordings. It’s a good programme but I wish there was a new series of Line of Duty to watch, he was great in that.
Out for dinner tonight over at Scrabster, now the tourists are leaving it shouldn’t be crowded and peace finally starts to return.
Enjoy your Weekend folks.
Good morning Folks…I’m trying to grow out the pixie style hairdo I’ve had for a few Years,jeeze!..I got a bit of a fright when I looked in the mirror first thing when I got up…the words ‘mad witch’ came to mind…must look out the hats I haven’t worn for years and plonk them on My nut for the next 6 Months when I go out…See Ye A’ later,x
Morning, It’s not a good day for me and I’m away back to bed for a while. May it’s a real pain growing out a hairstyle I know that well enough, I have had my waist length hair cut to my shoulders as the heart problems left it too hard for me to manage, but I can still bung it up in a clip.
No plans today.
Hi Rox,I hope You’re feeling a bit better after Your nap…I heard on the grapevine about the problems re’ Your Heart…I was shocked as You’ve always led such a healthy Lifestyle…We never know what’s in store for Us as We age but I hope You’re feeling better and getting the treatment You need ((((((hugs)))))))
It was a hell of a shock to me as, well, I went to the doc as I couldn’t breathe and was starting to really struggle, he bunged one of my fingers in those things that measures heart rate ect. Mine was 146 instead of around 80. He put me straight into hospital, I was there while they tried to slow it down with drugs, it took a while but they did it. I’ve had so many different types of scans since, mostly in Ninewells, some of those machines are scary I can tell you. I have 4 hospital appointments in September and I have video chats with the Cardio Unit in Dundee fortnightly. It seems my heart valves are in bad working order and I have to have an operation in Edinburgh to replace one of them also my arteries are very narrowed and I’m not sure what they’re doing about that. The whole thing has me scared half to death, mostly I’m ok and I have a monitor for my finger that I use several times a day, my heart rate is mostly where it should be but there’s not enough blood being pumped down to my legs, that’s why I sometimes get all wobbly and dizzy like I was this morning and the best thing is just to sleep, I have a bad day like that every now and again, my life is mostly as it always was but at a lot slower pace, and I have to rest more and stay away from strenuous jobs…and stress. Heaven knows what they would say if they knew I still rode the Clydes, but I find that relaxing with them on the beach, walking/cantering and paddling in the ocean does me good and makes me feel better, and I’m always with himself never out on my own.
With your bad leg break a while back and now your heart problems you really have had a tough time of it Rox, I hope you get it sorted soon.
Thanks Scott I feel fine this morning and am away to the pool shortly. I no longer swim fast up n down the lanes, it’s a slow dawdle these days, also pool walking and exercises at the end of the pool, just to keep my joints moving really or they stiffen up. Plus a gossip with the early gang, then my latte over at The Front watching the wave.
Rain here at the moment but I’m not complaining about it the earth is so dry. I’m glad it’s cooling down a bit that heat was torture for me.
Not doing much today just a wee catch up round the house.
Good Afternoon Each, haven’t been out as x ray at the start of the year showed a loosening on the knee implant I had 21 yrs ago, and it’s been giving Me gyp recently…so…pottering about here spraying vinegar in water around the windows/doors/ etc’ to repel those spiders from getting in…The House smells like a chip shop…puting Me in the mood for fish n chips …but…better not as I don’t need to gain any more weight
…See Ye A’ later,x
Evening …had some real heavy showers here today but ended up a lovely evening.
Spent the afternoon watching two squirrels chasing each other in the garden. Last year I bought them walnuts to eat in winter but they ate me out of house and home … lovely little critters.
