Over 50's Club Scotland

Evening had a lovely time away with the nieces. Really hot here yesterday so got what I needed and came and stayed indoors till evening time. Then did a bit of tidying up the front garden. Rox I used to feel the same about all the tourists who used tome to Largs.Morty I agree Clydes are beautiful horses.

Hi Jess, Glad you enjoyed yourself, it’s been boiling here, left me with no energy at all, we had some heavy rain and I just sat in the kitchen doorway and watched it. It’s cooling now thankfully.
Morty the Clydes are the gentle giants but can look a bit intimidating because of their size.
If you want to know what a beach ride is like watch this.

Hi Rox, Met my friend in Glasgow yesterday. it wasn’t that warm and there was a heavy shower. Went out with my niece last night for dinner, Today its catching up with housework and then the shops for something for dinner.

@Rox Looks idyllic and very calming … did your partner rescue working horses? What a wonderful thing to do as they can’t be cheap to look after.

Afternoon, It’s much cooler today with lots of showers, and I can breathe :grinning: makes me feel a lot better. Just pottering around the place today slowly catching up.

I wasn’t living up here when Dunc took the Clydes on, I knew he had but nothing else. The farmers up here are a tight knit lot and gossip a lot so he soon found out about the Clydes lol. Dunc’s dad had a Clydesdale and Dunc loved him and they were constantly together when he was growing up. These Clydes were on their own most of the time being neglected, not by cruelty but lack of funds and not able to be cared for properly. Someone called the SSPCA about the state of them and Dunc knowing about it offered to give them a home. He has built a very close relationship with them, they like me but not in the same way, they see me as a walking treat hoarder and scratching machine. I get mugged and my pockets gone through, they know I’ve always got treats about me. :joy:

Have you a farrier nearby Rox? I ask because my father was a farrier and shod Clydesdales. Some of the larger farms had 3 or 4 pair. When I served my apprenticeship as a blacksmith I got to remove some of the shoes but I was never allowed drive the nails when putting on a new shoe. By that time of course there were only a few horses left on the farms,

Yes there’s 3 not too far away, nearest is over at Wick.

Nice to see the new thread going! Always enjoy the mix of laughs and thoughtful moments in here. I was reading something on griefquote the other day—some lovely quotes that really make you pause and reflect. Just felt like it fit the mood of some of the recent chats we’ve had.

Hi and welcome, Selena. Which part of USA if you don’t mind? My dear wife is from Atlanta but we now live in UK, Yorkshire now. Originally I’m from Scotland near Kirriemuir.

Hello Selena nice to see a new face in The Scottish Club, this used to be a busy thread but things went quiet a while ago, several of our friends left for one reason or another. :slightly_smiling_face:

Morning. Hi Selena, nice to see someone else posting on here. It’s like being back to winter here the winter coat is back on again. Hair and nails for me today, then see what else I can get up to.

Morning, It’s wet n windy here today, as you say Jess it’s back to the jackets again. I’m stuck in waiting for a delivery, hopefully it won’t be for too long, I want to see a friend down in the village later.

It’s pretty yuck here too south of Hadrian’s Wall …
i ought to stir myself and do a few jobs but can’t be bothered.

Morning. Weathers not very nice here either this morning, Catching up on things around here that I’ve been neglecting. Then maybe get out and do a bit of pruning in the garden.

Morning, Cooler and cloudy again but I don’t mind today. My phone network Three, has gone down I hope it’s fixed soon as I have that video call with the Cardio Unit tomorrow.
In the meantime no calls, texts ect from anyone, just great :frowning:
No plans, just take the day as it comes.

Morning. Weather much the same today here. Going for a massage later and looking forward to it. Tomorrow I’ll have to get up early I’m meeting friends in Edinburgh. Hope your network is up and running soon for your video call tomorrow.

Thanks for sharing this - lovely to watch.

Afternoon, Cloudy but dry here, had my video call with the Cardio Unit and guess what… I can go back to the pool every 2nd day but no swimming, pool walking and gentle exercises at the pool edge only, no hot jacuzzi either. Soooooooo Chuffed. Dunc said he’s coming with me untill he thinks I’m ok there again.:clap: Was told to stop at once if it made me feel bad.
Next is more bloods next week, then it’s up to Edinburgh to see me face to face for a consultant review, another long drive… Sigh. Then it’s up to them how and when I have the operation.

Hello Greengage Welcome to the Scottish Thread, glad you enjoyed it.

Hi Greengage good to see someone new posting. Rox that’s great news you can go to the pool every other day, and you managed the video with the consultant… Hope it’s not to long till you get your op. Enjoyed my massage today, she said I’m not as tense as usual which was good to hear.

@Rox … great news and a positive step, we all know how much you love your trips to the pool, Duncan sounds wonderful.
