I was going to cancel my birthday lunch today with my friend who lives in North Manchester about 5 miles away from the Arena but she insisted we carried on with our plans. It doesn’t seem appropriate to celebrate my birthday in view of last night’s events but we did have a lovely time.
I’ve booked a Shearings weekend in Melrose for late June … Betty No Mates single traveller again (I’m quite happy going on my own actually ) but when I mentioned it to my friend she said she’s like to go too … yay !!! she’s booked it and I’m thrilled to bits.
We’ve never been away together before but next week we’re going for a one night stay in Lincoln … I just hope she doesn’t regret booking for Melrose after that We will have separate rooms for both trips so she can escape if she’s had enough of me
Melrose is lovely Myrtle . It’s not very big and you can wander around looking at the nice shops . I have been to Melrose a lot in the past but not recently .
I will look forward to hearing all about it . Glad your friend is going too that will make it even better
Hi Abbey … I have been to Melrose before and it is a lovely place with a lovely walk along the river from the hotel.
I plan to go to Galashiels, Kelso, Selkirk, St Boswell and Jedburgh whilst I’m there … have you been to any of these places and what do you think about them ?
Galashiels or Gala as they call it is a lot bigger than Melrose and not so nice .
Kelso and Selkirk are lovely .
Think I may have passed through the other two but don’t know much about them .
I’m sure they would all have things about them that would be nice and worth a wee visit .
Thanks Abbey … from what I’ve read on the internet it does seem as though Galashiels isn’t as nice as the other places but I will change buses there so will probably not stay long … hopefully I’ll see some nice countryside on the bus journey though.
Glorious sunshine here too Abbey … I was dancing this afternoon so stuck indoors but I was walking on Monday and will be doing a walk along the canal on Saturday … hope the lovely weather lasts until then.
Good morning everybody. Myrtle would love to visit Melrose and that area. Abbey how is your new granddaughter.? Welcome back Nom. May chat to you when you come back on line. Went to Edinburgh yesterday with friends, and we met up with other friends. Off to meet my niece later in town.
Jess the coach trip I’ve booked on includes a trip to Edinburgh but I’m giving that a miss as I went there about 18 months ago so I’ve decided to do my own thing and get out and about on the local buses … I can’t use my English bus pass but I can buy a £10 day ticket.
I’ve booked the train to come home rather than use the coach … only £20 from Tweedbank to Macclesfield so that’s a bargain !!! Eeeeeek !!! Got to change trains at Waverley Station … what a busy place that is
Hi everyone . My new grandaughter is doing really well thanks Jess .
I feel quite envious of your Edinburgh trip Jess . I used to live there and sometimes get homesick .
Myrtle Waverley station will be easy compared to some of the English train stations .
Sun shining here today . Going out for lunch and to help someone much older than me to do their weekly shopping .
I had to go to school to see my granddaughter in a concert this morning … she’s 10 and their year group have been having music lessons from an outside agency so today was grand finale of what they’ve been learning. They sang two songs … the children chose them … they must be the latest “pop” songs … one of them was called “Stitches” … I’ve never heard them before and I can only hope whoever sings them does a better job than the children today  they played the guitars and keyboards very well … maybe stick to an instrumental next time
Abbey glad to hear that your granddaughter is doing well.Myrtle enjoy your trip to Melrose. Scot many happy returns to your wife on her birthday. Another sunny day here but not sure its going to last.
Nice to see Scot posting again and Happy Birthday to Mrs Scot
Bagged a Charity Shop bargain today I keep meaning to buy myself a 4 wheel suitcase but to be honest the price puts me off … got one today … looks like new … for £5.99 !!!
