Over 50's Club Scotland (Part 1)

Evening all. Lots of foxes round here too,Jess. Bonnie always ignored them and they tended to freeze until we were past them. But she was awful with squirrels grabbed one by the brush once as it ran up a tree, had to give her a slap on her behind to make her let it go.
All the ivy cut back and cuttings to the dump. Cleared out a couple more cupboards. Want everything done before Friday as my Son is taking me down to Alnwick for a few days. So plan is to buy my treewhen I get back and put all my decorations up then.around the 10th December. That’s really early for me. Though loads of people around me have them up already. When I was wee my Mum and Dad put up the tree on Christmas Eve and took it down 6th January. We had a wee real tree and lots of paper decorations. Usually we got some holly up the Calder and put it on the mantelpiece.I loved having the tree lights on and just the coal fire. It was cosy.

When we were growing up it was drummed into us kids that it was the 12 days of Christmas, no more no less.
Our tree went up on the 23rd December every year and was taken down 12 days later. I stuck to that as well with my own family, I don’t understand why people have them up for weeks.

Ours was always put about Christmas Eve, in a brass potholder don’t know where that came from. But every year the tree went in the pot with paper decorations and silver tinsel. I’m the same tree goes up just before Christmas and then taken down. Will have to get to Dobbies to see what there trees are like.

Good Morning Each, and a bright sunny one it is here,

Not in a xmasy mood yet,but I’m a bit of a non-conformist so I may put the tree/dec’s up soon,or I may wait untl xmas week, then again I may decide not to bother as I’m sick of all the Ad’s on the radio/tv wanting all of Our cash and every time I hear that song ‘It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas’
I sing along now with the word ‘bullshit’ instead.
See Ye aw later,xx

Funny May Hope yer breakfast was
wait backed beans
I hope you didny

Morning Physio for me after lunch>weathers actually ok still mild here Christmas is way to early, village had its Santa sparkle, Santa here with fireworks and band for music totally agree ba humbug
earlier every year just commercial
Also seen a lot of rabbits, great exercise for the dogs to chase, but notice a lot of small rabbits that is an indication of warmer winters, cant remember last time we had proper frost in November

Good morning, sunny and bright here but I haven’t been out the door yet. The ads get earlier every year along with all the other stuff. Caveman my niece took her little niece to the one here on Saturday, she said it was all stalls selling food and other rubbish. Might write out a few cards today to send to my cousins, with my new address because of the mail strikes.

Morning, It was frosty here again and I had to scrape the car
gggrrrrr. Supposed to be worse tonight. I really hate having to scrape the car so I can get to the pool.
Dog Walking, Shopping, and cooking for the freezer are my jobs for today.

We have only had mild frosts here this winter. Doing household chores mostly ironing.
Really sad to see pictures of the landslide in Ischia, had two lovely holidays there, it was a lovely place.
Might jump down to Tesco tonight to look at their dressings gowns. Need a new one and don’t want to pay a lot for it. I slop about in it and do cleaning so just need a cheapie.
Enjoy your day everyone. Sunshine really bright here .

Afternoon Each,I thought My ‘new’ eye was playing tricks when I noticed hundreds of midges in My back garden
at the end of November
that’s a first!

Your post about dressing gowns Jean got Me clearing out a drawer of nightdresses/pjs which were given as xmas presents from some of My Clan in the past
most I’ve never worn and wouldn’t be seen dead in :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:
it’s funny once You reach a certain age Your Family seem to think all You need/want is dressing gowns/slippers & PJs
I hope they find a nice new owner from the charity cancer bag which will be collected filled to the brim on Wed’ :grinning:

Its only in the last few years I’ve started wearing a dressing gown. Jean I usually tidy up in the morning with mine on till its time to get dressed.May I hate anybody buying me something to wear, it usually ends up in the charity bag. Was in M&S today and some of their stuff remined of my grannies nighties and dressing gowns.

Morning, By Heck it was cold last night, BUT what a show of the Aurora. These were taken over the bay at the end of the village.
Had my swim, been to Tesco and now heading off with The Hairy One, just a catch up round the house today and maybe a couple of hours with my knitting and the audio book later on.
Enjoy your day.

What a stunning display, Rox! :grinning:

Morning all. Rox that is amazing! Would love to see the aurora. You are so lucky!
Just going for rolls and milk then a quick tidy round the house. Taking my Granddaughter Sophie to her dancing tonight then collecting her and taking her back home. Her Dad is in Zurich with his work this week and her Mum is taking her brother James to his Special needs group.
Have a nice day everyone.

Stunning pictures of Aurora your privileged,! No frost here yet its very mild and people mention yesterday there is midges in garden !!! Went for a walk last night and its amazing how quiet it is with no tourists
I did enjoy the smell of a few houses burning logs, that took me back to being a child as I’ve always loved that smell
cheers

Fantastic photos Rox and Caveman. Caveman I used to be the same when I stayed in Largs, hated it when it was full of tourists. Jean having a quick tidy up here taking things out to the garage and moving things around. Hairdressers then start writing out cards to post before the strikes start again.

Happy St. Andrews Day. Good evening sunny and cold here today. Rox still working my way through the blanket for my niece. May I used to watch a squirrel going round the pots digging up the bulbs. Caught the bus into town and had a look round the shops and did a bit of food shopping.
