Over 50's Club Scotland (Part 1)

Aye,wear sunspecs.heh heh,

I remember when I was a wee Girl after the light was switched off at night,I used a torch under the blankets to read My book…Big Sis cliped on Me to My Mum,and that was the end of that!

I could get My cataracts removed privately in a few weeks if I wanted, but I’m still unsure about going into a Hospital environment,so will wait a bit longer until covid hopefully is
a distant memory…why isn’t My emojis working,any idea?

It’s pouring with rain here too Baz :~(

No sunspecs needed, all you have to do is ensure you take your eyes off staring at the screen every ten minutes or so and focus on something, perhaps the other side of the room. That allows the muscles to be used to focus rather than being unused when just focussing on the screen at the same distance for ages at a time. Dead simple really but it saves a lot of problems.

That’s the trouble with siblings, especially the older ones, they ‘dob’ you in!

Many people are unsure about anything to do with hospitals, myself included. On the other hand though that is one area we should be able to rely on that it’s been kept free of the virus, as much as that’s humanly possible.

My emojis are OK, have you tried refreshing the screen or even logging out and then logging back in again, that might work.

All that wet stuff is not nice is it, we shouldn’t be surprised though, here there is a 70% chance of that
plus there’s a yellow weather warning for rain!
:cloud_with_rain: :cloud_with_rain: :closed_umbrella: :open_umbrella: :umbrella:

Ok,refreshed the screen…no joy…will try logging out…bye bye…'tis time for a run around the garden in the lovely refreshing rain…lol.x

Don’t forget your brolly then! :umbrella: :grinning:

Good Morning Folks…Has Everyone gone to the big smoke with Jess?

Rained here all night and looks like it’ll continue the rest of the day,

Nothing more to say :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Good morning May and all in Scotland! :039:

Perhaps everyone has deserted ship or floated away with all the rain of late? :worried:

One consolation for all of you ‘up north’, is that here ‘down south’ it’s not much better either. The forecast for the likelihood of rain (they call it ‘precipitation’) for today varies between <5% and 70% so a wet day is to be expected. :cloud_with_rain: :umbrella:

On the plus side though, all of next week there’s just one indication of rain, the odd dark cloud symbol, just one all week and that’s about it. I hope it’s the same for you all in Scotland. :sunny: :parasol_on_ground:

I do like these new smilies, something for every occasion! :+1:

Have a good day all! :grinning:

No May I am still here. Just having Broadband problems at the mo. Think we are all sorted now!
Turned out quite nice this afternoon, although still too damp to cut the grass.
Wish I was away with Jessie btw. Though still a bit worried as the nos have doubled here.
Enjoy the rest of your Sunday whatever you are up to.

Morning all, it’s a beautiful morning here, off to the bank later,30 mile round trip, must hang the washing out before I go…enjoy your day

Afternoon Each,it was a bit gloomy this morning, but now the sun is shining and
it’s quite warm here,

Spent hours, well days, trying to connect My old out of circulation printer to My newish laptop…no joy…in fact
i’m in the process of chucking them both oot the windae :exploding_head:

Hope the sun continues to shine for a few days and I can get back into the garden,
:woman_cartwheeling:

Afternoon May and all in Scotland!

Brilliant sunshine here and really hot, had to give myself a break after being out in the garden for an hour or so, too hot for me!

Have you checked to see it there’s a new printer driver required? That’s often a reason for being unable to get a printer to work. Operating systems are upgraded but printer manufacturers sometimes don’t do the same. I expect it’s a Windows machine and unfortunately I know nothing about those. However, perhaps Google could help, usually there’s something on there of use.

If you do chuck them both oot the windae, make sure there’s nobody oot there first. You don’t want to end up in the clink for the sake of a printer and laptop!

Enjoy your garden if you do get oot there! :grinning:

Brilliant sunshine here now too. Went for a walk was so hot! To be 23 up here tomorrow. Get the pool oot !

Oh goody, I bought a brolly for my garden table, haven’t managed to get it out yet
maybe the morn… :high_brightness: :sun_with_face:

Good morning everybody. Got home last night and had a great time in London. We visited a few of the museums and the famous Harrods. Also lots of walking and yesterday the changing of the guard, that was really something to see. However back to reality today, hairdressers then some shopping.

Lovely day here as well, really warm so might sit out for ten minutes.

Good Afternoon Folks, aye it’s a scorcher now…walked the Mile to the CO-OP this morning as I fancied fresh fruit & icecream, but caught the bus back…washing out on the line, and I’m off out to the lounger for a read…enjoy the sun Lassies.

Just been told I’ve been promoted up another trust level…aint gorra clue what it means

Washing out on the line here as well. Going to sit outside for a wee while, as I’m off to my nieces later and will probably stay overnight.

Gorgeous here too. Was very hazy this morning must have been a heat haze.
Glad you had a good time in London Jess.
Washed winter coats today as it is so warm they will dry quickly.
Trees here are laden with berries and my Granny said that means a very harsh winter. So soak up the sunshine girls while you can.

Nicola Sturgeon said she cannot “completely rule out” reimposing coronavirus restrictions as Scotland hit its worst ever number of cases recorded in 24 hours.

The First Minister said Scotland recorded 10 coronavirus-linked deaths and 4,323 cases in the past 24 hours.

Speaking at a Scottish Government coronavirus briefing in Edinburgh she said the daily case figure is “the largest we have ever recorded in a single day” but highlighted more testing now takes place than in the early stages of the pandemic.

What happens in the next few weeks will depend, to a large extent, on all of us

Nicola Sturgeon

Ms Sturgeon said new cases in Scotland have more than doubled in the past week, making this “one of the sharpest rises we have experienced at any point during the pandemic”.

Hospital and intensive care cases have also increased in the past 24 hours.

She warned Scotland is now at a “fragile and potentially pivotal moment” in the fight against the virus as vaccinations have weakened the link between cases and serious harm but not completely broken it.

She added: “That means the rise in cases in the last week may well result in more people having to go to hospital in the coming days, perhaps requiring intensive care treatment, and, unfortunately, a rise in cases like this will still lead to an increase in numbers of people dying.

“That also means that, if this surge continues, and if it accelerates, and if we start to see evidence of a substantial increase in serious illness as a result, we cannot completely rule out having to reimpose some restrictions.

“Of course, we hope not to have to do that and, if we did, we would be as limited and as proportionate as possible.

“However, as has been the case throughout so far, and up until this point, what happens in the next few weeks will depend, to a large extent, on all of us.”

The First Minister added: “We always knew cases were likely to rise as restrictions eased, so to some extent what we are seeing now is not entirely unexpected.

“That said the scale of the increase is still a cause of real concern.”

She urged people to adhere to the remaining restrictions, such as wearing face coverings in indoor public areas, as well as regularly taking lateral flow tests and getting fully vaccinated if they have not already.

With vaccination “making a big difference”, Ms Sturgeon said many of the new cases were in younger people, who are “less likely” to have had both doses of vaccine.

She said that “around half of all new cases right now” were in people under the age of 25.

So far, 4,850,552 people have received the first dose of a Covid-19 vaccination and 3,587,145 have had their second.

Giving a further update on the daily figures, she said the death toll under the daily measure, of people who first tested positive for the virus within the previous 28 days, is now 8,080.

The daily test positivity rate is 14.5%, up from 12.4% the previous day.

A total of 364 people were in hospital on Monday with recently confirmed Covid-19, up by eight on the previous day, with 43 patients in intensive care, up two.

A warning to Us All

Unfortunately, with the latest easing of restrictions, and the return to school, this was only to be expected.

As you say, we have been warned, and hopefully it will be heeded.
