Hi again,I’ve just noticed all the posts can be read even if You’re not logged-on to this Forum,so all the ‘how to’ advice is there for all
to follow without having to log in first…good idea to jot down some then give it a try,
Baz we used to have the working mens clubs in most of the villages here, they were very popular, but most of them have closed now there isn’t really anywhere to go now except to pubs, and that’s mostly the young ones…but to tell the truth we don’t want to go out at night now …old age has crept up…
That’s like a lot of places these days closing down, more than likely due to covid. Pubs here have been badly affected in that way. There are four or five in this rural area that have closed down. Prior to covid two of these were restaurants too, new ventures and were doing very well. The pubs, especially nightclubs had almost been taken over by the younger element. Due to this the town centres, before covid, were not safe at nights, particularly on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. There’s too much drunkeness, drugs and fights too. Old age, retired or not, town centres are somewhere I wouldn’t chance going to nowadays, far too dodgy I reckon.
I’ve just tried that May and it doesn’t seem to work on my Mac for the ‘Help’ threads and posts, they cannot be found unless logged in so cannot be accessed. What I was going to do, as these are useful in these early days, was to bookmark them while logged on. They can then be accessed at will. Also I thought that might have worked using the ‘Favourites’ on here but a post by Azz mentioned that facility is not actually saved on the forum but is on your browser so deleting any history and cookies etc. would also delete those. There’s always another way though, it’s just finding that way!
Aye,You’re right Baz…I can still see the ‘first impressions of new OFF’ thread offline where a few questions are answered, but, you have to log in to get the ‘Forum Faqs’ & ‘Forum Help’…Oh well, back to the drawing board
Another way, perhaps – how about creating a ‘folder’ (as called on a Mac) in your Favourites called ‘OFC Help’ then when logged in just bookmark a few to that ‘folder’ each time? They will be there ready to reference when you log on again and need to refer to them.
That might be a way, there will be others I am sure, computers are like that but that’s all I can think of right now! I will be giving that a try to see how it goes anyway, ‘nothing lost nothing gained’ and that’s all I can do in the absence of anything better!
I know that some of what I learned the first day of the new OFC site has been sort of forgotten already, probably as I haven’t used those options etc. since that day.
Oi Baz,My frazzled brain has had enough for this week, so I’m going to slowly de-frazzle it a wee bit at a time every day…I’m in no hurry…I’ve been neglecting My reading/writing…got to get back to normality now
Hi Jess, I hate this place now. The more I try the more frustrated I get. I couldn’t find this thread the last 2 days. I clicked on my profile a wee while ago only to be taken to posts from 5 years ago What’s that all about then. I can’t use My tablet to post here as I can’t see the reply box or the smilies, stuff comes up and covers them. I have to be on the computer in himself’s den, and it’s getting cold in there these days. My daughter will be up here in a few weeks so maybe she’ll get me in tune with this damn site, if not, well I’ll just leave.
Hi Roxy, my niece got me on here yesterday. I’m staying on this page as its the only forum I use. Must admit I missed seeing everybody’s posts on here, I use my laptop for this site. Housework today and a walk later.
Morning Ladies and Baz, Showers here and a cold wind off the sea. Think this afternoon I’ll wash all my sweaters to freshen them up as I will be wearing them sooner rather than later I think. A bit headachy today and tired as well, just going to be lazy and not do much.
Enjoy the rest of the W/E.
@Rox Re: my earlier post Roxy (7611) 10 August, assuming you’ve changed the view to what Azz suggested, then to find this thread all you have to do is go to the word ‘/forum’, top left, click on that and then click on ‘Categories’ and in the column on the left hand side should be ‘Over 50’s Club Scotland’. Failing that you could click on ‘My posts’ at the top and find your last post on the ‘Over 50’s Club Scotland’ thread then click on that.
Edited to add:
May has just posted a useful tip which would save you all the above.
Hi Rox,I’ve bookmarked ‘the over 50s club Scotland’ to My favourites on laptop,I just click on that and it brings Me straight here after I’ve looged on.
