Good Morning Each, sunny here at the moment, but no doubt rain will put in an appearance at some point in the day,
I was like You Paula,Kids bought Me a desk computer when I retired, and I hadn’t a clue how to use it… after being shown the basics, sending e mails etc’,that was 17 years ago and there’s still 101 things I can’t do on it but I don’t let it bother Me,there’s more to Life than pounding the keyboard all day
I very rarely started threads on the old Forum,so I’ll just leave that to Those who have more to say than I,
I too prefer the old one when I just logged on and there in front of Me was one whole page with everything on it,and I could see right away which thread I wanted to read or post on,now, there’s just too much faffing around, click this, click that, and before I know it,I’ve been sitting here for over an hour instead of 20 mins,so I end up with an aching back and strained painful eyes…so I’m afraid it’s a no for Me…My eyesight is far more important than a website,
Sorry for such a long whinging post, just felt like venting
Have a good one Folks, and I’ll see You soon,
PS…I think We’ve lost Jessie & Bonnie forever
Good morning May and all in Scotland, good that like us ‘down south’ you have sunshine. That does make a difference to the kind of day you have I reckon, long may it last!
@May Sorry to read you are struggling in the way you describe. It must be difficult using a computer when you have eye problems, not good at all. With the problem of not being able to navigate the site easily it may be helpful to you to check out my earlier post to Roxy (post 7611 I think it was). Despite me being on computers for the last 40 years (is it really that long?) I too struggled as it was ‘different’ to what had become habit with the old forum. I’ve copied below the link from Azz advising about this, just in case you can’t find my post to Roxy:
No idea what computer you use but if it’s a Mac then I can probably help you with making the forum website and text larger, so it’s better to use. Afraid I know nothing about iPads or Windows, although others on here would probably be able to help with that.
Jess and Bonnie might turn up yet, it’s quite nice here today…not the rain that we were expecting, I can hear a neighbour cutting his grass
May I think there’s a bit on the computer …settings I think, where you can make the screen a bit darker so there’s not so much glare…I might help, maybe someone with more computer knowledge could tell you how…
Hi All,Got the bedding out on the line blowing away in the sunshine but I’m keeping My eyes on those clouds,
I don’t have any problems navigating the site,it just takes longer than it did with the old one…I also adjusted the type size on the first day when azz showed Me how,and of course I’m zoomed up to 100% on My laptop,so no prob’s there either,
My problem is that I’m an independent stubborn bugger who makes changes to stuff because I WANT to,not becaiuse I HAVE to,and to remain a Member of this community,I HAD to change over, which goes against the grain,
I know the Boss Man has ambitions and quite rightly so,He’s a business Man after all,and who knows this Site in time may rival Facebook It is designed to attract Younger Folk who will find it much easier as They won’t have been used to the old one,and I can see lots of other features being added in time,
Well enough from Moi,and I hope You’re right about the other Lassies Paula.
That’s good, glad you got that sorted. I found it a great help when I had to do the same on my Mac.
You are not alone in that, I know just what you mean as I am the same in some respects but I enjoy this forum so I decided there was no option but to be my usual ‘other’ self and not be beaten by any new technology – so it’s onwards and upwards with that daily steep learning curve!
Morning or is it Afternoon, Not too bad at the moment. Had a busy morning, swim then as the dog just wanted to sleep I got the lawns cut, now I’m shattered but will have a wee snooze then head off to the beach with the dog. Will have to be Thurso Beach today as I need some more flat stones for painting, used my last one a couple of days ago and will hide them at the W/E in the forest for the kids to find.
I am still having no luck with a spell checker but I don’t use Chrome I use Edge with windows ten. I will need to wait till my daughter comes up, I’m a Monkey see, Monkey do person, I need to be shown then I’ll manage fine.
I hope the others find their way here soon, it seems strange without them.
Evenin’ All,well haven’t been on here since this morning so got lots done around the House,
Brought in the washing just before it rained, did a bit o’ ironing, cleaned inside of windows, cleaned cooker, cooked a chicken which I 'll have with a few chips & salad for dinner, then feet up to watch Downton Abbey, luvly jubly
Good Morning Folks,a chilly wet & windy one here, but I’m off out later for a gallivant around Town to do some shopping,
Aye Baz,I ate a whole chicken and then had cow pie for afters …Had one chick’ breast for dinner, the other was sliced up for sandwiches, the rest I made a curry with which I’ll have for dinner tonight,
Have a good One Folks and don’t do anything I would’nt do
morning everyone…bright but windy this morning, May did your cow pie have horns sticking out…like desperate Dan’s…off to dentist in an hour with hubby…then some shopping on the way home…enjoy your day everyone…
Good Afternoon Each, well the rain stayed away while I was in Town, but still very windy,
Bought Myself a few bright coloured sweaters to cheer up the Winter days ahead, and did what You suggested Rox and bought some Optrex eye wash which I’ll apply later,…I knew My eyes felt tight, but didn’t know they looked so tight until I took a Profile pic this morn’ with the laptop cam’
Good Morning Folks, come out come out wherever You are …You will get used to
this new Forum once You start…please don’t give up…‘If at first You don’t succeed, try try again’
Good morning May and all in Scotland. I reckon they’re all still snoozing May, it is Saturday after all.
Or perhaps some are still ‘getting lost’ on this new forum?
Good advice that is May, the only way to learn and beat anything new and unfamiliar is to persevere and keep practising. Click on this, click on that and see how it works. We all possibly struggle in some way but we will, I feel sure, all ‘get there’ eventually!
Morning Baz & Paula, weather’s the same here,I even put the heating on for an hour when I woke up,
Aye Baz,I know it’s Saturday, but being retired for a long time one day is much the same as the next…I’m sure none of the Lassies here were out clubbing all night…don’t know about You though
OOO.I love shortbread Paula, but I’m a rubbish baker…Good cook…can’t bake to save Myself…(well I can but it never turns out as it should so I gave up years ago)
@May It’s been quite mild here ‘down south’, although a slight ‘chill’ can be felt in the late evenings sometimes. Yes, one day is much the same now. I semi-retired in 2006 and fully retired in 2016 so in total 15 years since I worked full-time. After 55 years working life in total I reckon the rest from work was needed.
No out clubbing all night for me either, I’ve never been clubbing in my life!
