A raised bed allotment sounds brilliant, Pixie! My dad had an allotment when I was a child and I used to love going to it with him. I couldn’t manage one by myself but raised beds - that sounds ideal.
lovely here this morning, I’ve been in the garden tidying and pruning. Roxy, a lot of selfish people leaving their litter behind, there’s no need for that, spoiling a beautiful place …
Afternoon, Back in the wars today fell over a rock and busted my foot up, pouring with blood and took forever to stop. Real sore and feeling like a right idiot.
Been sitting out in the sun in a sheltered bit, not much else I can do as it hurts to move about. Sheezze trust me, and it’s only Monday.
Hope your all having a better day.
Oh Roxy, that sounds sore, hope it eases soon:cry:
Roxy - ouch!! I would go and get it checked over if I were you…or not, depending on how hardy you are.
Yes Sue, raised beds are the way forward! Saves the back. Going to see them tomorrow so that should be fun. 8ft x 4ft they are, and I’m wee, so its perfect! ![]()
Any raised bed would have to be about 4 ft off the ground for me. I don’t know what’s going on with my back and hips but I’ve seized up. I really miss my Aquafit classes which helped my flexibility and general fitness. These days I creak about like a robot.
Interested to hear about the North Coast 500. My husband is keen to do it so your comments are great ammunition. The prospect of beating a coach load to the only loo was horrifying. To be fair we had heard that the infrastructure wasn’t up to the sheer numbers of tourists.
You could go outside the main season, Jane10. Less pressure on facilities then. It’s a wonderful trip.
Re raised beds, I’ve eyed those vegetable boxes on legs that they now sell in garden centres. They’d be waist height. My problem is where to put stuff like that. We’re on the side of a hill and we’ve lots of steps down to the main garden so moving things like bags of compost about is difficult. I love this house and area but the difficult garden access is what would make me want to move.
I saw a programme about a very posh hotel on the North Coast 500 route. Didn’t look like a place bus parties would stop at! Suspect its very expensive.
I would like to see the Castle of Mey. I love Wemyss pottery and heard that the Queen Mother’s collection was very interesting.
The Castle of Mey is open seven days a week from 1 May until 30 September each year, but closed for ten days at the end of July and the beginning of August, when Charles and Camilla usually stay there. We see them flitting about often while they’re here.
The castle’s rooms are not very big, smaller than you’d expect, it looks huge from the outside but it’s a small castle, I love the dining room with the view out over the ocean and it’s lovely private beach. Hope your able for narrow stone circular stairs, the place us full of them.
Roxy if the Queen Mother could manage those stairs I’m willing to have a go!
Am still in bed. Curtains shut so no idea of the weather. Very misty last night so I’m not optimistic!
Morning Ladies, its a bit chilly outside but sunshine later, hopefully. Been out with the dog and breakfast so on with the day. I really need to get rid of the nose paintings on the window - 3 times this past week I washed those windows, and Diva Dog still does her little nose abstracts on them!
Good morning ladies. Sun is out here but probably cold. Pixie I have to open the blind in the living room when my niece comes down with her dog. He always heads for it and pushes the slats aside. Did a bit of gardening yesterday so might try and do another bit in the back garden.
Morning, Very dark and dreary here, low heavy cloud but dry.
Might have a faff about in the greenhouse later if I’m able, I am so mad at myself for tripping over that rock yesterday, I’m covered in bruises.
Roxy have you tried arnica ointment for the bruises? I always found it helped.
it’s turned out nice here today, blue sky, so I was pottering about in the garden , it was very misty earlier
You are so lucky! I am still waiting for the “promised” sunshine, and its 5 degrees where I am. Sitting here with two jumpers on
Roxy sometimes I think your pride hurts more than a fall. Did some shopping and then went out for a walk this afternoon.
Lovely mess eh? legs swollen up to double it’s size. Good job I wear trousers all the time…
Roxy, that looks so painful!! Are you quite sure no other damage was done, and that its only bruising? You poor thing
