Over 50's Club Scotland (Part 1)

Morning All :039: Damp Foggy and cold here today, but still went along the beach with the dog and had a bit of a sit down on a sandy bank, took one of those big bags for life with me to sit on so no numb wet bum. :stuck_out_tongue:
I used to have a good bit of Gaelic growing up May as it was widely spoken on the island and my dad spoke it a lot and he taught me a good bit. Lost it after we moved to the mainland though, and I was aye away with friends.

Good morning May, well almost anyway. Hope you are well? I just about caught one of your rare posts so thought I would say “good morning” to you and to all in Scotland.

It will take me an age to decipher your post properly, I can almost manage that and even tried to learn more quickly from the video below, but it takes far too long.

Perhaps in a few months when I become more fluid in the Scottish accent!

nĂĄ lig na bastards meilt tĂș sĂos

Good Afternoon Young Man,long time no see

I’ve written in My local dialect Baz which of course would be spoken with a Scottish accent,

Yer Man oan that tape is a wee brammer

Same here May, long time no see and thanks for the ‘young’, if only you knew!

I did manage to translate one word, with the help of a dictionary, see link below:

Have also made an attempt, without the dictionary, to translate the remainder of your post, what do you reckon:

"Good morning all you good lassies, it’s been a foggy wet one here so did not go for a walk.

I’m feeling a bit rebellious so am doing the posts on here in broad Scots. I would do them in Gaelic but I know you would not understand them and I would not get away with it.

See you all later and remember to keep your chin up, or in my case (chins)" :-p

Well done dear Boy
ten oot o’ ten

I can understand that May

Good Lass
We must all live by it

nĂĄ lig na bastards meilt tĂș sĂos

I won’t May, I won’t. :044:

Good evening ladies it was a cold one here with touch of fog. Roxy glad you finally heard from the elusive doctor, more pills. Lets hope the physio can help you with your back. Nice one May. Hi Baz good to see you and Mags dropping in. Did some shopping today and tomorrow I want to get some new cushions.

It’s nice to see how you are all faring in these difficult days.

Roxy, I hope your back is better soon.

Me too Mags, me to. Thanks. Back to the pool tomorrow, the swimming seemed to help the other day, so keep your fingers crossed for me folks.
Just let the dog out the back, wall to wall heavy sea fog. Can’t see a blessed thing out there, creepy with it all swirling about in the wall lights.

It makes me shiver just thinking of swimming baths!

I been doing between 40/50 lengths Mon to Fri for 8 years, didn’t realise how much good it was doing me untill the March Lockdown stopped me, my joints are not happy at all, then the pain set in a few weeks back.

I expect it is a relief being able to get back to swimming, take it easy at first to get your joints used to it again.

I had no internet access from Monday
thought it was my internet provider was having problems
phoned them on Tuesday it turned out my router was on the brink
i’d had it for 10 years and it seems they only last 5 years
so today my new router arrived, so I’m up and running again
I was having withdrawal symptoms
how dependent are we on this internet

Good Morning Each, another cloudy dreich one here so far
Housework and window cleaning for Me,then making a chicken curry for dinner,

Good to see You back Paula, aye You don’t miss it 'til it’s gone.:-p
I’ve depended on it mainly for online shopping these past few Months, even more so going into the winter months when I certainly appreciate being able to get groceries delivered if the weather’s really bad.

I’ll be thinking of You Rox doing Your laps,You’ll be fighting fit in no time atall

Keep warm & safe all,xx

Good morning ladies. Mags it takes me all my time to go swimming even in the sunshine. Roxy enjoy your swim. Paula I think we’re all the same we’ve got used to chatting to people up and down the country. May I usually send out for a curry. Hairdressers for me today and a bit of shopping.

it’s a lovely morning here, got some washing to do today, then a bit of shopping
hope you all have a nice day

Afternoon All :039: Not long back from the pool, 30 lengths today, the pain eased quickly once I was in the water and it was no problem to do 30 lengths at all. Home now and the pain is creeping back, sat on the sofa with a mug of frothy coffee and a hot water bottle under the top of my leg. No swimming now till Monday so we’ll see how things go over the W/E.
