When I first got married one of my work colleagues told me that you only have to dust as high up as one’s mother in law could see. She also said she took her curtains down once a year and hung them on the washing line without washing them just to stop her neighbours gossiping
Poor Nom . That explains a lot
@ Noms wet broon saggy jumper…reminds Me of the Summer My Mum knitted My Sis’ and I swimsuits which of course sagged to Our feet as soon as they got wet,but what was worse is that the dye from them ran all down Our legs,Hers green,Mine blue
Those were the days
Good evening everybody was out early this morning. I hope your not all bothied out tonight with all the chat. Mike I can imagine you sitting there in the rain with your saggy jumper. May just think of all the hard work your mum put into knitting your swimsuits. Myrtle you certainly don’t stay home very long, I don’t blame I like to go as many places as I can.
Good Morning Each,it’s brightened up after the rain earlier this Morn,so I’ve been cleaning the windows outside and in,then some housework after I’ve had My coffee…see Y’all later,x
Good morning
May … do you have a window vac ?? It makes window cleaning so much easier
It’s a miserable damp day here … grrrrr … I need to go into town later for a few things … eeeek !!! I’ve run out of coffee !!!
Enjoy your day everyone
Good morning everyone . Sunny day here so far , the birds are queueing up to use the birdbath in the garden . They do like their morning bath !
All the talk about knitted jumpers and swimsuits did make me laugh !
Had my cat to the vet this morning turns out the poor wee soul has a urinary infection . Not much fun for him . However the vet thinks the two injections he got will soon sort it out . Here’s hoping she’s right .
Morning folks. Rain here earlier, but brightening up now. Off to Culzean Castle (A Scottish Nat.Trust place on the Ayrshire coast) shortly. Flask of coffee and sandwiches made. NOT taking my swimming costume, woolly or not!
Mike.
Hello again
Abbey … hope the injections sort out you’re cat’s problem very quickly.
Mike … I had a lovely view of Culzean Castle when I was on my last coach trip … think we were on the way back from Ayr and the driver stopped for a photo shoot
Have a great day
Good morning everybody. May I have a window cleaner who does the front windows and I do the back. Abbey hope your cat is ok after the injections. Mick enjoy your visit to the Castle today. Myrtle I’ve never been to Culzean Castle maybe one day. Going into town later for a look round the shops.
Morning Jess
I’ve not been in Culzean Castle …only seen it from a distance … lovely view of it nestling in the trees by the side of the loch
Hi Mike ,
Had a lovely day out once at Dumfries house in Ayrshire .
Have you been there ?
Hi All,I used to have a window cleaner in My other house Jess, but as I now live in a wee bung’ it’s a doddle to do them Myself, and I enjoy the exercise for the shoulders and arms…,mind You I had to stand on tiptoes which hasn’t happened before,The next door Neighbour said ‘Yer shrinkin Hen,Ye must be gettin’ auld’…cheek :-p
Rain started again so I hope Mike is indoors having his coffee & sandwiches.
Myrtle there is an overnight trip to Dumfries House from Glasgow which I’d like to on. May my windows are tilt and turn I could mange them but its easier to get him to do them.
Evening all.
I had a great day at Culzean thanks. One short lived shower en route, but otherwise ideal weather for strolling round the extensive grounds. Went down to the beach. Tide just on the ebb. Cormorants patrolling, Gannets diving and two curious seals a few yards out watching me watching them. A bit hazy out to sea, but you could see Arran and Ailsa Craig. In the courtyard cafe to finish. I recommend the Strawberry Meringues !!! Oink-oink !! What diet ???
Mike.
I remember those knitted swimsuits, thank goodness I had the good fortune not to have one. My mum was an avid knitter too, as am I.
Hi you guys, sorry to butt in being a non-Scot, but I do so love your country and did visit it in 1999 on a motoring tour of the United Kingdom. We had been in the beautiful Lake District and then headed north to Scotland, stopping off first at Greta Green to be ‘married’ at the anvil.
We then continued up to the Glasgow area to catch the car ferry to the Isle of Bute. What an experience, we stayed with friends for a few days and it was magic – how the Syrian refugees don’t like it I can’t imagine. But we were spoiled, we stayed with the retired head game keeper to the existing Stuarts of Bute, and his delightful wife a retired cook. We were spoiled of course as they showed us around the Isle, but we did enjoy its peace and quiet and charm.
We sat in their sun catching extension, sipping drambuie and looking out across Wenryss Bay to
Glasgow and Greenock. Time was short unfortunately but we did visit Mount Stuart and Rothsey Castle.
We caught the car ferry back and headed north travelling alongside Loch Fyne onto Fort William and stay a night and day at Loch Ness of course.
We continued north to see some old friends at Aultbea. We passed through Inverness and then the awesome Vale of Glencoe – that was eerie! After a weekend there we headed south again stopping at Plockton which of course reminded me of Hamish McBeth for some reason! Had a day visit to the Isle of Skye paying an exorbitant five ponds each way across the bridge!
We spent one night in Invergarry before heading down to Yorkshire to meet more old friends. It had been a whistle stop tour but it never stopped being magnificent and my dear wife pinched some of your heather for her sister heather back in OZ! [sorry about that]
Good morning Each.had a long lie in this Morn but feel the better for it.
Lovely to see You here Gumbud and so glad You and Your Wife enjoyed Your short visit to Our beautiful Country…fancy You marrying Each Other at the Gretna Anvil,so romantic,I hope You weren’t running away from an Irate Father in Law …Well as We always say to happy Folks who visit Our Country ‘Haste Ye Back’ x
Good morning
Lovely post gumbud … I’ve been to most of the places you mention and I was visualising the scenery as I read your post
I’m a refugee to this thread too … such a nice place with lovely people
It was the same when I read Mike’s post about his visit to Culzean Castle … the lovely view of Arran and Ailsa Crag was in my mind … I’ve never had a strawberry meringue though !!
Have a good day everyone
