Over 50's Club Scotland (Part 1)

Yes the Edinburgh tattoo is fantastic , I’ve been a couple of times . Not so good in the pouring rain though ! I was once there when the dancers were dancing around in puddles , pour souls !

Hi Abbey … to be honest I hate bagpipes  … they’re OK in a field 5 miles away but in close proximity … eeeek !!! Why is it that when I go on a coach holiday to Scotland the entertainment on one night is the lovely Scottish dancers and a piper in the same room ? I make a quick exit

I always assumed the Tattoo would be all Scottish dancers and bagpipes and just by chance I watched it on the TV last year for the first time … WOW I was blown away … loved it !!!

Having said that I don’t think I would ever be tempted to go to see it live :frowning:

Worry not May about the spelling of the username. It is a little weird after all ! In retrospect, it wasn’t the done thing to highlight the error. Please forgive. I must try and engage the brain before attacking the keyboard !!!

Mike.

Aye the Tattoo is indeed spectacular, but like Abbey,it rained every time I went too,not comfortable sitting on a wet bum.:-p

I’ve just had the most relaxing bus journey through the Yorkshire Dales for the past hour with the ‘All Aboard The Country Bus’…no talking, just the faint sound of the traffic and mooing of cows in the fields,…beautiful scenery…it’s still on BBC4…Fab’.

I should take Your advice Mike sometimes and engage brain before attacking keyboard too.no prob’s

Never been to the Tattoo I’m ashamed to say maybe one year I’ll get there. Will watch it later in I player.

I’m watching the Dalesbus too … I"ve never been on a bus that goes that slow . I’ve recorded it so I’m able to watch it x2 thank goodness !!!

Missed that last night . Must see if I can get it on catchup .
I thought it sounded really good .

Not too sure if I would like that sort of entertainment either !
I do like the tune Highland Catherdral though .

Good morning from sunny Macclesfield

I’m on Nanna duty for the next three days … they’re back to school next week

I had some good news yesterday … I’m going on a 2 night mystery coach trip on Friday and expected to end up in Blackpool … I like Blackpool so no problem … but whoopee the hotel’s near Coventry … I’ve stayed there once before … and the excursions are to Stratford upon Avon and Worcester … lovely

Have a great day

Good Morning Each from a dull grey Glasgow, but sun will come out later they say!..Have to go food shopping so here’s hoping it’s pain-free.

Enjoy Your Nana duty Myrtle while They’re young as before You know it They’ll be Men & Women in Their 20s like Mine…I do miss Them.

Have a great Day Everyone,x

Morning May

My grandson is now 13 … no more kisses or hugs for Nanna  . My granddaughter is 9 and thinks I’m wonderful and wants to live with me … oh dear !!! how disappointed will she be when she realises that I’m not that special :lol:

Morning All. Started a bit grey, but sun coming out now. Gentle breeze to keep the midges away. I’m about 30 miles SE of Glasgow, so I suppose it’s similar with you May.

A fellow bothier friend coming round later for coffee and to laminate some notices. All good stuff !

Have a good day folks.

Mike.

Morning Mike :-). I know what a bothy is … but what’s a “bothier” … is it someone who uses bothies ?

Off to find a map to see what’s 30 miles SE of Glasgow

Morning Myrtle. Yes, a bothier is someone who uses a bothy, but in this case my friend is, like me, a Maintenance Organiser for a particular bothy. We keep “our” bothies in good order and carry out repairs etc. if required. Most bothy users leave the place clean and tidy (hopefully as found), but there’s always the odd one who does not respect the place. When you have a minute, tap “Mountain Bothies Association” into the electric mangle and all will be explained ! My bothy is Gameshope in the Borders. My bolt hole and escape from the world ! I live in the hills near Darvel, about a 50 mile drive to nearest parking place to said bothy.

Hermit Mike.

Thanks for that information … really interesting :-). Are bothies only in Scotland or do we have them on all long distance paths ?

Here’s a pic of the bus ticket …

Many thanks for the ticket pic Myrtle - much appreciated! Whereas most bothies are in Scotland, there are some in the north of England and some in mid/north Wales. Not all are on long distance paths. Some are REALLY remote and a long way from “civilisation” and some accessed best by canoe/boat ! Not my cup of tea if the truth be known.

Mike.

Afternoon all You lovely People…The sun has finally popped out so I’m off out to My wee Bothie (summerhouse) to while away the rest of the day reading with a few snashters to keep Me happy,

Just realised I’ve been spelling bothie wrong !!! Och … my apologies :frowning:

May make sure you leave your bothie clean and tidy … Mike may make a surprise visit

Dont talk to me about the Tattoo, it damaged me for life, the sight of Maoris in national dress with see through plastic macs performing in the rain while my aunties hand made brown knitted jumper was nearing my feet due to being a drowned rat on a trip with said auntie and mother to the tattoo damaged my 13 year old brain forever… :(:frowning:

Roaming the country with clip board, yellow duster and my can of Mr Sheen ! Hidden horizontal surfaces will have to pass the finger test. You have been warned !!
