Outdoor Swimming

It’s finally warm enough to swim in the ocean. It’s cool but refreshing. The swimming place I’ve found is approximately a 25 minute walk there and a 25 minute walk back. This place I found is called an ocean pond.

These ponds are usually 1/2 fresh water from streams or rivers and 1/2 ocean water. Sometimes these ponds are closed off by a sandbar and sometimes they are open due to the waves from the ocean.

I spent about 5 minutes just getting used to the water and then swam for about 25 to 30 minutes and it felt great. After the swim I stretched out my muscles then walked home.

I’d like to lose 30 pounds this summer that I gained due to medication and a rotator cuff injury and outdoor swimming, walking as well as isolated exercises is how I will do this.
I’m creating this thread to make myself accountable.

Here is a photo of the area I am swimming at.
Could someone tell me how to upload my photos in FULL format instead of little ones? I’d really appreciate it.

Oh Bratti! I am so envious - that looks a perfect spot! I would love to try wild swimming too, but it needs to be a heck of a lot warmer over here before I dip my toes in!

Also…curious about the photo sizing too, so I hope someone helps out.

Good for you, Bratti.
Sounds like you thoroughly enjoyed yourself. It will do you good to relax and do something you enjoy.

Soft bugger - I thought you Scots were tough and hardy?

Bratti if you use “Postimages.org” you will find it very easy. Just upload the photo to your album, then “copy the link to forum” , and “paste the code to your post.” When you click “post” the code will turn into your photo, it will be sized automatically. Like this…

It IS a perfect spot. I’m used to wild swimming since we lived around water during the summer months. Swimming in nature has advanced. No it’s no a perfect temperature nor is it without current, tides or sea creatures but it’s beats swimming in a chlorinated poor any time. Thanks. Come visit Canada and I’ll take ya when it’s warmer.

Thanks Mups. Yes I thoroughly enjoyed myself. It was wonderful and losing weight has to be fun for me to maintain any type of routine and this is. Plus it’s a nice way to cool off before I start my gardening. I must remember to use some sun protection. The sun reflects off the water so doubles the ultra violet rays.
My sister in law is visiting in 6 weeks so I’m aiming to loose 1/2 of that by then and I think I’m so it.

Thanks Roxy. I’ll try that. It’s a gorgeous photo you have. Please feel free to post some of your sea scapes.
I know you’re an avid swimmer Roxy. Do you ever swim in the ocean, lakes or rivers?

Here you go,

I did when I was young but not these days, I prefer a warm clean pool. Besides the Atlantic is too bliddy cold. The Surfers here have to wear wetsuits and even then some are shivering when they come out of the water.

Oh thank you Roxy. That’s kind of you. I just got a new phone so don’t have everything set up yet but will later.
The Atlantic Ocean is probably warmer than it is where you are but it was still cold. I just looked up the temperature. I guessed about 60 degrees but it was 10.7 degrees Celsius which is 51.26 Fahrenheit.
I’m a tough cookie.
I have to admit that the water is super clean and clear.

I will be swimming in the Blue Lagoon, Iceland next month

How exciting. You must take some pictures for us. I’d love to see the Blue Lagoon. You must be stoked.

I hope the water will be warm, Warleyron :surprised:

It’s a large geo thermal pool, as warm as a bath.

I can’t swim it scares me to death having water over my face. It is an inbuilt fear since I almost drowned at the age of about 3 in an uncles garden pond. A cousin a few years older pulled me out so I was told later on in life

It’s looks fabulous Bratti
I am not a good swimmer (my style is what can be best described as the save your self from drowning style ) and hate cold water so unless it tropical I don’t do outdoor swimming .
In fact unless it’s with grandchildren I don’t do indoor swimming either .
But it’s still looks great enjoy yourself

Looks gorgeous…I’m so envious. Enjoy

That sounds perfect!

can I come swimming with you, it looks a lovely spot
