That’s great if you want a bath. Not good for exercising:cool:
My husband was scared to death of water when I first met him. Now we go canoeing and kayaking with no issues. He still doesn’t like any water above his chest area or he panics.
It’s a common fear.
I am a good swimmer but don’t necessarily enjoy swimming in cold water. In fact the first 15 minutes are difficult. Once my body gets moving, the water isn’t as much of an issue. I don’t think the water was 51 degrees. I think it was a bit warmer than that but definitely well under 60 degrees but I prefer to swim in cooler water than most people. Once I get swimming and my heart rate goes up, then cooler water is very nice. 65 degrees is perfect. Anything above 70 isn’t something I’m interested in swimming in. Plus the ocean offers that extra buoyancy which is nice. It’s nice that you take your grandkids swimming. All kids should learn to swim.
Thanks for your feedback Muddy. It’s much appreciated.
Thanks summer it’s truly is beautiful
Come visit me and we’ll go in and afterwards have a delicious picnic lunch. We can go for an awesome walk too
Thank you OGF. Unfortunately I don’t have a mouse to right click since I use an iPhone but thank you for the alternative method. I will keep it in mind for when we get our new computer
I live on the coast but it’s too cold to swim for more than a few minutes and I haven’t done it since I was a kid. We locals leave all that to a few crazy tourists. The sea temperature today was between 6°C to about 10°C, for example, and even going ankle deep in the water quickly turns the feet numb.
Looks so fun! I want to start snorkeling and was thinking Laguna would be a good place to start.
Haha. It’s very cold on this coast also. The temperature yesterday was 10.7 C which is 51.26 F. That’s cold but I need to lose this weight and once my body gets used to it, I can manage. It just takes about 5 to 10 minutes for my body to adjust. Oddly enough I believe the main bay was warmer because when I swam to the other side, the waves coming in had a much warmer temperature than the pond I was swimming in. Once getting out of the water my skin is still somewhat numb.
The locals probably think I’m a crazy tourist since we are new but I’m ok with that. I AM a bit on the crazy side You have to be to swim in this cold water.
I wish I could snorkel.
Have fun.
It rained all day yesterday but today was fabulous.
Today I considered going in the water on the main beach part but the water is so shallow that it would take ages to get far enough out to be enough to swim properly but my main concern is these jellyfish. I’m not scared on them brushing by as I swim. I worry about stepping on one while coming back to shore. They apparently get swept ashore after storms while they end up dying. You can still get stung by dead jellyfish. Anyway I’ve seen enough of these to be somewhat concerned and urinating on the sting doesn’t take the sting away. That’s a myth.
It was a few degrees higher today and very very nice. I’m starting to lose weight and get in shape again. I swam for another 30 minutes straight.
After showering, it feels so good to have swam.
So far I’ve done long distance swimming 4 times. Since I can’t gage the distance I can only log in my timing. I’m a fast swimmer and my first 2 swims were about 30 minutes each. The 3rd swim about 45 minutes and the last swim, about an hour and I’m down 6 lbs which is great.
Yesterday my husband and I found a huge sandy beach. My sister in law will love this when she comes to visit next month.
Here’s another picture of the Atlantic Ocean.
The water is warming up fast. It’s probably over 60 degrees now which is perfect. Today I swam and had a loon follow me back down the shore line. Plus this place is full of bald eagles so picture taking is awesome. I added a picture of the boats we saw yesterday when we found the sandy beach so added it.
Looks gorgeous Bratti! What an adventure - and good for you in losing weight and toning up!
Thanks Pixie.
This morning I went for another long distance swim and am really enjoying it and so far this morning I’ve lost 10 pounds. That makes me 1/3 way through my goal. The swimming is really helping my moods also. I think the salt water really cleans out my pores really well making me feel super clean. Swimming is awesome outdoors in the ocean.
Twenty more pounds to go.
What a beautiful place, Bratti, and I am glad it is making you feel so much better. The losing weight is a bonus.
Keep at it gal.
That looks beautiful Bratti
Well done on losing weight too
Thanks Mups. It IS a gorgeous place. The beauty is what inspires me to swim plus I’ve researched the jellyfish in the area and most are moon jellyfish which are poisonous to humans so no stinging whatsoever. This alone has brought me much comfort. Someone tried to scare me from swimming by telling me about the great white sharks in the Atlantic but my chances of one attacking me are 1 in 14 million. I think I’ll take my chances. The first 5 pounds were super tough. These last 5 pounds were super easy to lose.
Yayyyy. It feels good.
Thanks Mags.

Thank you so much for enlarging my photos Bruce. They look so much nicer that way. Thank you also for the clear directions on how to put in full photos. Unfortunately I can’t right click since I have no mouse or computer but I really must figure out a way to add photos this way. It’s so much nicer.
